Thread: Merchant Guilds?

Just trying to get a feel for what's out there...
Are there such things as merchant guilds, or are all the guilds pvp/faction ones?
The reason I ask is the long term plans for my character will involve creating one

I am trying to do somthing like this on the gorath server.
heres a small summery below give me you r thoughts
These seven Investors will be the Driving force of a NEW CITYon CNET near korvella dedicated toBuying, Selling, And Trading. Thevision of this city is to become MERCHANT MECCA.Players from all over will come to one place to shop, buy and sell all their goods instead of running around every planet looking for items to find that its a scam or the vendor is EMPTY. Imagine a city full of organized vendors and Merchant.
1. It will allow crafters a more concentrated place to market their products
2.Merchants with no crafting skills will be able to partner with crafters and take on the managing role giving more time to enjoy profits and the game.
3. Crafters who produce Mass Productions will be given an incentive to drop prices so that regularmerchants,small businesses and indivual persons to purchase wholsale.
4.The city would concentrate the commerce market in one centralized place.
5.Guild cities will generate moretraffic becauseplayers will either shopin the city or Go to merchant MECCA.How? shops that areuninhabited or in desolateplaces will more than likely align themselves to partner, which will drive consumers tocentralized areas.Shops that saw low traffic will benefit from more traffic and the advertisements of others.
6. AMarket place for players to offer their services or contract with the city merchants.
7.TheIntial 7 investors will make up the Executive committee that willprofit and decide the directional growth of the City.

I'd enjoy any type of business focused group. I see one of your characters is on Starsider. It's hard to say how interested others would be, though. Any more specific information would be good to have.
