Thread: Dropping Merchant Skills

I need to free up some skills. If I unlearna couple of my merchant skills, will I lose any vendors? I was master and have had to free up some points. I currently have the full 6 vendors, and I plan on freeing up management points. Will I lose a vendor if I temporarily give up the skill? I read in the sticky above that I would not, but I have millions of credits worth of items in each of my vendors and I want to be very safe as to not lose any.

Please advise..

All arguments of semantics aside:

Many merchants and developers condor it an exploit that you are able to maintain all the benefits of the merchant profession without needing to maintain the skill points. This issue is on our top 5 list. So it is a known problem and is being addressed by the developers.

It may be annoying to merchants and not what the devs intended, but it's obviously not considered an exploit by the devs. When the devs think something is an exploit they ban people for it, like credit duping, and the whole going into the geonosian cave before it was open. This is not an exploit. At the very most it's a design flaw.

Please. PLEASE. PRETTY FRICKIN' PLEASE!!!

Let's not beat this old dead horse anymore. I'm begging. I'm so sick of this arguement I could puke coathangers.

The first poster's question was answered. Yes, for now you can keep all your vendors and all their abilities. Yes, many merchants feel that's unfair. Yes, many merchants do not. Yes, the dev's have acknowledged that it is an undesireable state of affairs and have asked our opinion. That is the state of the matter. Let's move on.

Because every time someone asks this question it turns real ugly real quick and we all start rehashing the same arguements for at least five pages.

The kid's question was answered. Let us now move on. PLEASE.

From what I've tested you don't lose any vendors, they don't get removed from the planetary map if you registered with that, and they also don't stop barking. I just want to know if I drop novice merchant and all of artisan if it will do any damage since I temporarly need to free up some points as well. Hope I helped answer your question

the people who turn ugly are the ones who want it pulled...they want the vendors vaporized and the owners drawn and quartered and fed to the Saarlac...and they start being really mena to anyone who disagrees...

My suggestion is you can keep the vendors ONLY if you have a master title of an elite crafting profession. So if I am MWS I could keep my vendor once I give up merchant. However, If I'm Marksman and Merchant, the vendor would die once merchant is given up.

Every established elite crafter knows you absolutely need merchant skills to run a good enterprise. If the elite crafting professions are so dependant on merchant, merchant should be either A) Made a requirement to obtaining elite crafting professions, or B) Left alone/add restrictions in first paragraph.

My 2 credits anyways...

I disagree with you. I am not being ugly about it. I justdont want to see merchant continue to be a throwaway profession.

And I, nauf, am just tired of having the same arguement with you and people of your opinion about this subject just as you are of hearing mine. And please spare me the "my team is better than your team." You weren't here for ALL these discussions. Just as many on "your side" got ugly as on "my side."

In short, can it. The horse is dead the question is answered. Bye.
