How do u even get merchant xp? all the sudden I have a new level and I'm like alright thats good but how did i get this?

read drazner's guide at the top

but basically you get xp by people looking at your vendor or going in your house with a fee set up

Chiefly you get 150xp per hour per vendor you have running.
