I recently got an email warning about a new scam, and thought I'd post here to see what's up with it.
Long story short, it involves people sending fake bank transfer messages. Anyone know if this is a true scam, and if te devs have anything in the works to fix it? Also curious if this is a Scylla only kind of thing, or if it's broad range. Thanks all.

Could you elaborate on the nature of this and how I could be scammed by recieving a fake message?

The victim gets an email exactly like the one recieved when there is a real bank tip, causing him to think that he has recieved payment when he actually has not.

I just posted on the Open Discussion thread an idea I can't believe hasn't been brought forward before to solve this problem/scam.
Simply change the "from" line in the bank tip/transfer email notices to be from "the bank" not the player. The player's name still appears in the mesage body. So unless your player's named "the bank" you can't scam ![]()
Let's everyone get behind this idea - it should be a fairly small code fix that will prevent an entire class of player grief and reduce CSR tickets.

I heard about this scam a few weeks back. For the time being I would use the trade window for getting your credits and careful watch how many credits you have at a time.
I think your "the bank" idea would work, if devs want to do it.

Smugglers have been concerned about it as well. TH is aware of it and said they were looking into extra layers of security for us on this.
