Ok.. In JustG's new "state of the game" letter, he says that there will be a "merchant vendor revamp" in publish 11.. Do you have any info on this that you can share with us Doc? Is this actually a "revamp", or is this just the nerf we've been waiting for? I realize that publish 11 is a LONG LONG ways away, but I what I mainly want to know is if there is actually a revamp in the works.. It certainly would not be nice to tease us by calling the nerf a revamp..

The two things I know about are a rewrite of the server side code for the vendors which is supposed to make it more efficient, and the item limits. I Don't know if that letter means both are set for publish 11 or not. I'll ask about it.

Doc, can you ask what they plan to do to help those of us that runs malls and have vendors from players that quit the game..
Right now we have to redeed the entire mall to get rid of those empty vendors that ruin the malls..

Lots of other changes would be good as well.


1) Fix to terribly bugged catagory system, now full of empty catagories, terribly placed catagories, and insufficient breakdown on resource catagories. It should also never default to a restrictive search when a vendor is opened. This is a serious current problem!


This is shared code with Bazaar. TheBazaar needs a search system souser can search for Dolovite Iron anywhere on the planet.


2) A merchant should be able to customize the initial contents of the window, and display an ad for today's special instead of the stupid initial blank window, and perhaps in the skin for every page.


3) Custom catagories and custom sortable columns. It should be possible to have a sort order that allows a display where armour in the same color could all sort together even if similar suits in other colors exist (independent of the name given by the makers). It should be possible to have a sort order that allows a display where pistols are sorted by Maximum damage or speed at the customer's option. This may be a skill based feature, perhaps in the Management tree.


4) Linkage between stores, our vendors should show items in other stores, and either give a waypoint to them or (even better) expedite their purchase. We should be able to give the same kind of service that Nordstom's does!


5) Delivery! At least between vendors owned by the same merchant.


I am sure there is more -- we should start now to collect this!
