Thread: Hiring IV : Broken or Worthless?

Upon getting Hiring IV, I figured I'd be able to dress all my vendors in similarly fashioned clothing, to provide some uniformity. I also figured it would be neat to put some tailored clothes on them (to show off the craftsmanship of our guild tailor).

To my surprise, the only NPC vendor I have successfully customized is my Wookiee. I was able to make and put a variety of wookiee related apparel on him.

As for the other NPC's, any of the non-player available races have static animations and cannot be altered. Some can have weapons/items in their hands, but aside from that, no clothing.

As for the PC available races, I was unable to customize the clothing on Mon-Cal, Human, Twi'lek, and Bothan. Any clothing given to them does not change their external appearance.

Doesnt this make Hiring IV a useless skill (except for master merchant)? Isnt the point to be able to customize ALL your vendors, and provide a uniformity to the look of them? How is this possible without a shop with only Wookiee vendors?

Has anyone else noticed this problem?

The answer to your question is, "Both", like the whole profession. What isn't broken is usually worthless; some of what is broken would be worthless if fixed.

And if you look at the anemic replies to our first correspondent report, we're pretty much in the same boat at Droid Engineers--we're not even on the map of professions that matter. Most of the other problem professions have at least gotten answers, and some of them are getting a lot of action. Us? De nada.

Well that sucks. I was hoping for some new models with Hiring IV, and the only thing I got was an upgraded station, and medical bot.

Is Master even worth it?

As a Master Merchant, I can say that right now, the answer in unequivocally "no." It might be some day, but until they fix everything that's broken and then completely overhaul all of our skill tracks, it's a waste of points.

But when you complete all the lines and use that apprentice XP for Master Merchant you get the option of having a PROTOCOL DROID vendor! I mean if that isn't worth it I don't know what is!

You'd think they could've picked something a little cooler.

I thought "de nada" means "you're welcome"?

Actually, to give a literal translation, de nada means "it is nothing" or loosely translated and the common usage meaning is you're welcome. The french version for you're welcome is the same when literally translated. What I believe he meant to say was nada, or 'nothing' rather than de nada.

But moving on to good news, the patch going to the test server includes a fix to Hiring 4, where the vendor will now properly accept the clothing and wear it IF you have the requisite skill. I am looking forward to dressing my vendors when the patch goes live.

I'd much rather see them fix planetary registration and ad barking before they worry about being able to dress up our vendors. Hell, I'd rather they didn't mess with the Hiring line until they actually gave us some useful skills.

Does anyone know how to remove vendor clothing? I've got a jacket and gloves on a vendor I don't want there anymore. I suppose I could go long gloves, which might remove the jacket, then flightsuit, which might remove the long gloves, then back to muscle shirt which would remove the flightsuit, but should I haveto bother doing all that?

Cheers,

Sadly either that or empty vendor/delete vendor/replace vendor may be the best steps. You can't remove clothing from vendors. I guess the idea is they don't want you getting your stuff back.If that's the case, I'd LOVE to be able to have a "destroy uniform" option that returns the vendor to its initial state clothing-wise.

I *think* what you could do to effectively remove a vendor's clothes is try to replace them with something "illegal." Something along the lines of giving a Revealing Fleshwrap or Exoptic Lepotard to a male vendor, for example, would result in the removal of whatever clothes the female-only item would cover, but he wouldn't be able to put on the new clothes.
