Thread: An alternitive to Consinment and Retail

First off, my point of View I am a MDE, M. Artisan(vertually required of a DE), MID with 0-0-0-3 in merchant.
I agree that non-Merchants(people who don't maintain Merchant)should NOT have there own vendors(atleast without Bussiness 3), however, sence it has been screwed up for so long any fixes(yes I mean fix) to what is currently going on needs to behandled VERY carefully.
First off a Graceful transition to any new system that does away with vendors with owners who cannot control them is a must now I have two Ideas on how to handle this
1) Turn the vendors off (no more sales for the vendor owner, can't place anything else on it) the vendor would still persist for a while giving the owner the opertunity to ether pick-up enough Merchant to again control the vendor or empty the vendor and Transfer it to one owned by someone who can control a vendor.
2) OR empy the vendor into a "bottomless Bag" much like that "recovored Iteams bag" that returned "lost" iteams. This bag would contain the contence of the Vendor however it could only be emptied not filled, if this option carries then the "offending" vendor could be destroied.
Second thing is how to handle Master Merchants who ether give up Merchant or Leave the game this I have No Ideas for but it needs to be dealt with if a Merchant is going to be required for sales(FYI as an ID I can tell you this you WILL be resented, but atleast for us it did not last long, people adjusted)
Third the Alternitive to "consinment' and "retail"
First an Idea to improve thoughs to options to make them more viable, The Offeror can offer it in on of two stats much like "instant sale" or "Auction" in this case it would be "wholesale" or "Consinment" if offered as "wholesale" the fucttion would continue as it does now. If offered as "consinment" what would happen is this the a sale window would pop-up asking you your "consinment fee" wich would be added to the COnsinment Price that was Offered and then it would be put up for sale. At this point the Iteam would be in escrow and niether party would be payed BUT once the Iteam sales Both parties would be instantly Payed there Share.
Now the Alternitive (this would be Added to the game and not in anyway effect the above way of doing things)
The ability to "lease" the vendors in your mall. First the ablity to do this would be on a seperate branch (say the one that Certs Merchant Tent) also you can control 1 more vendor then you can lease. The way this would work would be simaler to the Mayor. where you grant solo admin rights to someone and ether the Mantance of the vendor goes up by the amount You specify as a Flat per hour rate or you my run it like a Sales Tax and just addthe "rent" to the consumer price. Now what would happen is that while you own the vendor you would not beable to Add things to or Take things off the vendor as it is leased space. However you do have a menu where you can incress the Rent (with Leasies consent) as well as eveict them for reasons like they refused the Rent Incresss or They don't keep the vendor full that kinda thing. However the Iteams on the vendor will alwas belong to the person who was evicted. How they would get the Iteams back i am not shure but I think we can figure out how to do that.
so what do you think,
Flamers are also welcome Like I said I am new to this board and would like to get a feel for it and I think that Flames are a big part of that.

I love the consignment idea, although I think it would take a fair bit ofprogramming. Not sure about the other ideas though. A bottomless bag would cause even more stress, especially as it would not place items into a stockroom after 30 days.

The Bottomless bag would be a one time thing inorder to avoid current vendor exploters from losing all the Iteams on there vendors something that the SOE Econdomy could not in the shortterm handle. You would just get in your inventory a Bag full of all the things in your Non-compliant Vendor the you can ONLY pull stuff out of and once emptied would Poof itself.

If the "bottomless bag" has a time limit on it, then itcould work.

Didn't thank about that but your right it sould, and it sould be EZ to know what that time limte is. I think the limit should be say 2 weeks to give the people who get no news outside the game an opertunity to find a Merchant or a Reseller. I also think that expote vendors should only be poofed once an Improved Merch System (say 2 weeks after it goes in) is in place so that people have time to realize that Merch is now what atleast closer to what it should have been in the first place as well as the chance to Identify the new Bugs in the system, Not fix(we all no how long that takes(how many weeks til Anivercery?)) just Identify so the Merchants Suppier will know what he/she is in for.
