Thread: Possible solution that would allow the Merchant caps to work?

Hi all,

If this is a change that we as a community can not get turned back, then here's an idea that I thought of that might help the solution. Issue here is obviously space, and the thought that stocking every day would be a royal pain. Fair enough. First let me state I in some ways support this cap issue.

Pros -

1. Removes dead weight from the server vendors by deleting worthless, empty vendors.

2. Removes the vendors from people who do not have the skills anymore to actually be able to use them.

3. Overhead map will definitely be easier to read, yes they fixed the name stacking in a structure, but they will never be able to fix name stacking when houses with multiple vendors are right next door.

4. Removes useless/empty vendors from the Global map(CNTRL V)

Cons -

1. Space space space - oh did I mention space? with the caps coming down the pipe, here's a question. Will items that are in bags that are on the vendor for sale get counted in to the vendor caps? Or will a pack with 50 items be considered 1?

2. People with multiple professions are going to be crushed. There are definitely ways to sort out your vendors if you're one specific crafting class i.e. Doctor. 1 vendor for each type of buff.

I cant think of anymore cons, I leave that to you. On to the idea that I have that may or may not get read/considered/checked out who cares.

If the caps are to remain and there is nothing that we can do about it, make an automated system to help us stock our vendors. Remove the timer andplace a cap oflets say 2000(could be capped as per skill levels)itemsin the stockroom.

Automation:

1. Interface - Similar to the Harvesting interface where you choose your resource instead you choose from the items on hand. Remove the regional option so that it is an easier interface to use. In other words only items in the stockroom on that vendor can be restocked by the vendor.(other option - Make it like a vendor. When an item is bought a new one is moved from the stock room to the sales area)

2. Calendarized - Change the hopper icons on the interface to reflect a day(s) the vendor would self stock.

There are more ideas that I had, but I got interrupted by my little one, now I forget the rest of it. I think some of these solutions might help, then again they may not. Also, Im trying to be constructive here, if you want to flame please goto your server and flame someone there. If you want to flame constructively then be my guest. If you want to add to this please feel free, Im sure others have some wonderful ideas that could go along with this one.

These pros aren't really the issue anyone has. These are things most merchants (and players in general) have been asking to see for a long time. And these things ALONE would do wonders for cleaning up the database.

My suggestion is to go through with these and see how much it cleans up. Then go with that cancelled account purge. THEN see what you're looking at.

Oh. And an upgrade of the servers might help, too. But of course that means they might actually have to put some money into it rather than taking it from the players.
