I don't think there is a way to do this but I am throwing the idea out to see if someone has figured out a way to limit the number of purchases made from a vendor by a single person.
What I would like to do is during the month of December [the 1 year aniversary of my shop being opened]sell some high end items for a super good price(Comp armor 50k, 75 Ubese 25k, weapons 1k, ect, ect.). What I don't want is the first person who walks into the store buying that vendor out. I would like to limit it to 1 item purchased from the vendor each week. That should give lots of people a chance to get something special or to try out some of the more expensive items (like food) that they can not normally afford but might find worth while once theytried it.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can do this?
My best idea so far is to tip back 75% of the purchase price to the buyer, but that doesn't help me to intice them to try new products, it is an after the purchase reward for things they already bought which is not exactly what I am after.
I also thought about a token system where I had a vendor with fireworks (what I originally started out selling, sheeze) that had the name changed to what item they represented (say canape) the person buys the firework for 1 credit and I then load the vendor with a backpack that has the item inside of it with their name on it.
Both ideas have their flaws and if someone has a better way of doing this, or experience doing something like this, I would appreciatetheir advise.

Outside of trading with the individuals you are selling to, there is no way to limit number of items sold.

I think it might be hard to develop a good interface for this. Every item is individual so you had to use serial number for selecting which items which are limited offers only. But of course that could work. if you are sellign armor in bags you would have to use a factory run of bags.
Another solution would be if they made it on vendor basis. For exampel you set a limt on vendor that each person can only buy 1 item from this vendor and put all your bargain stuff on that vendor.
Another option but that is more of a pain to handle (but would solve other problems) is that we can have passwords on items. You can only purchase an item if you enter a password. That would make it possible to offer deals like "Buy this and you will get this item for free" (customer buy item and then you send him the password).

You could hand out a lesser amount of items out as gifts at the starport. Say primarily to younger characters.
Or you could have set times where you would be online and in your shop to make the trades in person.
Or you could only put one low cost item up for sale at the time.
