Thread: How to correctly drop Merchant with the new system?
So I've got about 15mil worth of harvesters, houses, furniture, etc on my vendors now. I sell maybe 3 things a week at this rate and it's usually small stuff like furniture. Half the people in my guild/town have quit lately for JTL beta or WoW, or just quit because they hate SOE.
Now I've completely dropped Master Architect because I see no need to make MORE stuff that no one wants.
But now that I'm done with that, I've still got Novice Merchant and about 750 items on 3 vendors. I was hoping that I could clear the stuff (mostly) within a few weeks... but that hasn't happened and sales are even slower than before.
So I need these skills points (Novice Merchant, Business IV, and Novice Artisan) back to use for MBH and Pistoleer, etc. Is there any way to keep my vendors around for a few weeks after dropping Merchant? Will there be a warning mail when I drop Merchant to tell me how long until my vendors disappear? Or will they just poof instantly? or randomly?
Also how am I supposed to sell anything without vendors? This sucks. Does anyone actually play this game just to be a Merchant and sell other people's stuff and not fill all of their vendors with their own stuff?

OK, I was a very successful Master Architect. I made around 30mil in revenue and maybe 10mil profit over a few months. Then everything came to a halt. Nothing sold anymore, nothing moved. No one ever needed anything other than maybe some spare furniture, which hardly makes any profit.

You don't want us to think you are a dirty scumsucking exploiter do you? Will there be a warning mail when I drop Merchant to tell me how long until my vendors disappear? Mail? maybe....or maybe not.. Or will they just poof instantly? or randomly?it's pretty random but they will poof.
Also how am I supposed to sell anything without vendors? the bazaar, trade forums, trade chat channel, shouting in coronet. This sucks. Does anyone actually play this game just to be a Merchant and sell other people's stuff and not fill all of their vendors with their own stuff?Yes.. i do and others do as well.
If you want the benefits of our skills, keep the skillpoints invested.. otherwise use those other options i mentioned to sell your stuff... also don't forget about storing those items without vendors.. 750 is a bit much.. fire sale is your best bet.
You should be able to drop down, then after awhile when/if you recieve an email saying "the vendor will be deleted soon," pick up enough skill to list/re-list the items and then drop down again. Easy enough.

You'll be able to manage all those items.
And I can't keep Novice Merchant, because I need to drop it for other skills which need the points.
But it does look like I can drop Merchant and Artisan and then just wait for my vendors to sell all the junk. I just can't add more stuff, which is fine with me, and seems reasonable.
I've been doing a clearance sale for a few days now and it's been fairly effective, except I still have at least 500 items to go... though I did make like 20mil.
Thanks for the information.
