Thread: Role-playing Merchant (or how my alt is becoming my main)

I bought my second SWG account back in July and made her a m. artisan/m. tailor/m. merchant. This whole time, she has been a support character for me. Mainly I used to play her long enough to keep her shop stocked so that I wouldn't have to run money missions with my main. She was a poor, negelected soul who only received maybe an hour's worth of attention a week from me.....

Until this weekend, that is. I discovered this weekend exactly how much fun role-playing merchant can be.My toon spent a whole day redecorating/rearranging her shop to include wonderful displays for her products. Due to all the running around she did this weekend, she made numerous new contacts and expanded her customer base exponentially. She even opened an outlet store in a second location.

My main is a combat prof, soon to be jedi. And I used to always prefer playing her over my second toon. Combat is exciting and exhilerating, and I thought nothing could compare. Now all I want to do is log on my merchant and run my stores.

It's amazing how much fun you can find when you just give something different a chance.

That's exactly what happened to me about a year ago. I just wanted an architect so I could make furniture for myself. Then it actually became more fun to play my alt architect/merchant than my main combat character.

Now my "alt" combat character only gets trotted out to clear away lairs from good resource spawns and when I'm feeling cranky and need to take out my frustrations on some baz nitches.

Very similar to what happened to my characters too. I play my Architect/Artisan/Merchant/Politician more than I play my main combat character these days. He mostly makes an appearance for social funtions and the rare occasion that I join in a combat group with my guild.

That will probably change in about 9 days

Almost everyone in the game, or Teamspeak calls me "Fivo", even though Cafa Asia was my first and I play all 7 toons, they continue to call me Fivo no matter what! Funny isn't it, how the commerce character takes over.

Don't let the negative AFKophobes get you down. Play the game however you want.

Is the beta testing almost over for this game?

I gave up trying to actually "hunt" with Hork a long time ago, between the /tells and chasing harvesters, its nearly impossible to get anything else done. Besides, Master Merchant/Artisan with medic/Pistoleer thrown in isn't exactly an uber template.

For the times something small and furry/large and scaley needs to die, I break out the combat toon.
