Hi,

How about, as an incentive for non-merchants to deal with merchants (rather than eitherusing their own skill points on merchant, or, more frequently, poaching vendors), introduce a new skill to merchant: Supply Chains.

Introduced at Efficiency IV, This skill will allow merchants to extend their building maintenance discounts to the suppliers.

At Eff IV, they could agree to take a percentage of each factory run (to be determined by the players), in exchange for which, the supplier receives a 5% discount on their building maintenance.

At Master Merchant, the merchant can offer to increase the maintenance reductionto up to 10% (to be decided by the merchant, to e.g. favour certain business partners).

The setting up of the contract would need to be handled via secure trade (or similar), with options for

* Percentage of factory run

* Maintenance reduction % (at Master Merchant only)

* Item type (e.g. deal with a weaponsmith to sell a percentage of every factory run, or just carbines)

In order to work as a true supply chain, the items would need to be automatically moved from the factory to the vendor stockroom (with email notification to both parties).

Either party would be able to cancel the agreement at any time.

What do people think?
