Hi - just starting out as a merchant now... so far, all my selling has been done on the Mos Eisley bazaar to newbie players. I've assiduously copied all my customers' names into my friends list for marketing purposes, and last night sent out a notice that my shop would be opening to around75 potential customers!

This is great as far as it goes... but are there limits on the size one's friends' list can be?

I don't know about the list itself, I've yet to hit the cap and have close to 400. What I have seen is a limit on how many you can mass email to. Seems to get funky over 100 at one time. Just an FYI

Thanks for this... convenient actually, as I'd already divided up my list into 'ranged' and 'melee' weapon buyers. Maybe I should have a little think about increasing the number of classes on the list for when it gets much bigger. Easier to do this now than when there are already 400 people listed!!

I have a particular silly problem with friend lists. I am a merchant, yes, but I am also a player city mayor. This means I have contacts that are customers, just friends, other mayors, etc.

I email a message to myself with all the names in it separated by category.

Example:

FRIENDS:
Joe, Bob, Tom, Mary, Sue

MAYORS:
Charlie, Katie, Jane, Dan

CUSTOMERS:
Andy, Jon, Len, Jason

CUSTOMERS WITH PETS (I am a chef so I sell chef pet foods sometimes):
Rich, Chris, Dan

and yeah, some people are on more than one list.

Then I do a reply message to myself so I can copy/paste the list for the email I want to send. If a list has more than 10 people in it, I break them into groups of 10 so the email system doesn't throw a fit. Then I just send emails to the appropriate group. It's much easier than trying to go through my list of hundreds of people to click just certain ones.

Plus, I remember once coming on and having my friend list be naked of the notes I made for people so it took me a while to remember who was in what group. This saves my sanity immensely!

An alternative and potentially more useful way of managing your customers for marketing list is a feature included in The Merchant Friend. - there is a link to it on this board somewhere... http://www.geocities.com/illiya_darklight/
