Hi all,

My first time posting on this board.

I started my ALT character about a week ago and my intention is to go master merchant. I've actively read through the great information on this board and I am now 0-3-0-4 in Merchant. I'm also trying to get everything ready so I can properly conduct business selling smuggler supplies in partnership with my primary master smuggler toon (i.e. getting a merchant tent, listing on the map, a few vendors etc.) and I'm almost there.

To that end, I have a couple of questions regarding listing on the map:

1. I see the three most effective techniques of generating traffic as: Word of Mouth - Fair Prices - Consistently Stocked. I personally have never used the map after finding a number of empty vendors. Is themapan effective way of generating traffic to your vendors?

2. What would be the most logical category to list my smuggler supply vendors on the map? Equipment, Tools or other.

Thanks for your help.

I think it is more effective to get the occasional flyby customer. By having your vendor registered, you will also appear on the overhead map. If I have been considering buying new armor and see an armor vendor on the overhead, I will probably take a quick detour to check them out. I probably visit more registered vendors this way than I do by looking at the ctrl-V entries.

Merchant tents also work in a similar fashion. If I am flying by a merchant tent (visible on the overhead), I will slow down long enough to read the sign and sometimes stop in.
