Thread: New to the Merchant Profession...
I just started getting up in the merchant skills and have some questions you might be able to answer.
My husband is a Combat Medic, and a friend of ours is a Commando/Weaponsmith, we just thought of making a shop to sell my resources, his meds/poisons and our friends Weapons.
I have a small house, and I placed 3 Vendors in it, one for each of us...now here are the questions...
1. Can I give them control of the vendors?
2. If not, is there going to be a set amount of products that we can sell?
Because when I had one vendor and was selling things in town, at one time it said something like "you have the max number of items for sale"
3. Do you get more space to sell things, by having more vendors?
Thanks for all your help ![]()
greetings .
1: no
2: no max numbers. Tho you will need to turn the page if you got more than 100 items on each vendor. most use all button. (common sence LOL )
3: No you wont get more space, ( its alreadyunlimited, so far ) just more options. ie : vendor for armor and another for weapons.
wlecome to the profession!
Check out Draznar's FAQ, the thread stickied up top, it really does answer a lot of common questions.
You have a limit on the number of items for sale "in town" as you say. That is the bizarre, and it has it's own limits. Town sales may change in the near future to include more than just the bizarre.
Your vendors are seperate from the bizarre system, een though the interface screens are similar. We have never heard of a maximum number of items for vendors. Many folks have 2-300 items.
You can setup one vendor to sell all 3 types of things from your group, or 3 vendors, each selling one specific type of thing. It's really up to you and how you want customers to find your goods & buy them.
1 vendor with 40 items of various types is fine. But one vendor crowded with 400 different items is not as friendly to the averge buyer as vendors each holding a specific type or set of items. The primary reason for this is the vendor screen does not list things logically nortruely sequentially. As you progress through the vendor pages, you may seem some items displayed on every page over and over (you have one for sale but appear to have 3) or 5 like items will appear on one page and the 6th will be on the last page. You will help your potential buyers out by having some logical names and sensible vendor stocking to make it easy for them to find what they are looking for.
Good luck to your group, may you find your location and wares popular and profitable.
One point to make to the new Merchant wannabe player....
SOE loves to make you work....and work you will have to do...
Your vendours will spew forth their items on stock every few days just so you can have the wonderful time to sit there and retrieve them, replace them in stock and redo their pricing.
SOE believes in calling this a feature! Be prepared to spend lots of wastful time reputting your items into stock unless you happen to have a shop in an area that is infested with players who have nothing else to do than to buy buy buy.
I find the lack of support for a Merchant Vendour quite disconcerting. Your main purpose is to start a store, stock it and keep it running. However, why would you throw your stock away from the shelves every week or less at times I have seen? If it is food, that is one thing, but things like furniture, deeds, etc. It really makes no sense.
Vendours should have no item time limit at all...especially now that they will GIMP vendours with fees. It will just justify the removal of the merchant class since all SOE is concerned about is how to punish players for trying to work NON-COMBAT characters....if you dont believe me, look at any non-combat character profession in the game and see if you can survive without having/using combat skills...you cannot.
