I finally found my first Holocron. It told me to become a master merchant. Any tips or tricks to becoming a Master Merchant? Anything I should be aware of? I'm really newb to the merchant biz here.

My character started out as a novice marksman. The ONLY profession I have mastered is Master Smuggler.

My current character is:

Master Smuggler

Pistoleer (0/4/0/4)

Creature Handler (1/1/1/1)

Scout (4/0/4/0)

Brawler (4/0/0/0)

Medic (0/0/0/0)

Server: Bloodfin (my home, my bane)
Character: Martinez ()
Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer/Fencer

I would also recomend keeping the Smuggler and start selling spice. There is another post that talks aboutPushing up to Master. Snce you need to get Business 4. I would recommend obtaining allot of metal and macro craft up on survey devices. Below is the macro I am using on test to speed grind up Artisan on Test Server.

Macro Practice Crafting

Macro in Shift F1(12), Crafting kits in Shift F2(13) – F4(15)

Crafting Macro:

Wow!

Funny thing, I do SELL Molecular Clamps and Spice on a vendor NOW. It's just not MY vendor. lol. It's my cousin's acct. I give the product to him, he places it on his vendor.

I guess I can start using my own vendor!!! Eliminate the middle man.

My Molecular Clamps I make for slicing use 90 units of non-ferrous metal (copper or aluminum). That gives me 180xp a pop of general crafting. Plus I canuse them myself. I can still be Master Smuggler, some pistoleerand get Master Merchant. I just have to drop ALL of medic, CH, and scout.

The macro will come in handy for clamps. Thank you!

Don't burn your bridges when it comes to your merchant cousin... if you're following the holocrons, you'll need to change profession lots of times. You could always come back to merchant if it appeals to you, but you'll likely find yourself dropping it for master image designer or some such thing.

We are in the same boat my friend. Master Commando here. lol. The above guide is great except there really isnt any way to speed up merchant xp when you get novice. I found this very disturbing as every profession has ways to speed up the xp. So I went to work

The only thing I could figure out was to setup 5 small houses, set an access fee of 1c and time limit of 15 min. Set up all of these houses in a row somewhere near your friends houses or a large PA or just an area with alot of foot traffic. Thenstand around and wait for people to come by and ask them very nicely to walk through all of your houses. It helps to have some treats in the last house for sale for 1c. Go buy a crate of Ryshcate and 1 crate of fishak, maybe some Tatooine Sunburns or if youre a smuggler, put some spice in there. I put all of my vendors in 1 house and I just asked them to view all vendors before they leave. Also, if you have a real life friend that you can borrow his account, log in as him, and run through your houses, view vendors, then run to he first house and wait untill you get ejected.

So, with 1 vendor in your house and 4 others with just access, you can theoretically get 300xp every 15 min. It doesnt sound like alot at first, but otherwise, youre only going to get 150xp per hour for just having a vendor there. If you get the xp correctly, which I've found you dont sometimes, you can get up to 1200xp an hour. For each additional vendor you will get 400xp more an hour. Ive also tested placing access fees on other people's houses, I get the money from them, but no xp so dont waste your time there.

Hope this helps.
