Thread: Why don't I get merchant xp anymore?

I recently got management 1 and decided to add a few extra vendors to my store. So I get rid of my old terminal vendor and spruce up the shop with a droid and a couple npc's. Also I am now getting 450xp per hour, great. A couple hours after intializing and paying there maintence(100cr each, enough to last a few days) they stop giving me xp, and they had stopped charging me maintence. So I go back to take out all the stock and add a few new vendors, restock and hope that the problem doesn't repeat itself. Alas I couldn't retrive any of my stock from the vendors, having no time to waste on them anymore, and the stock was just a 50 items of food that was easy enough to replace, I destroy them all, make some new ones and put them out backto wait for restock.

Anyway, the ceasement of gaining xp acured around the same time that the server rebooted, and I still am not getting xp. I have bugged it, but does really do anything. From my experiance the merchant class is the one with the most bugs, although I have heard that the commando is not doing too well either. It is time something was done about these critical problems.

Merchant xp is the one thing confuses me the most. Some say you still get xp per hour, others say no. I appear to get no xp per hour as I can go for 5 or 6 hours straight with no xp gain. I do however get xp from people browsing and purchasing from my merchant tho.

I switched back to a terminal vendor and the problem was fixed. They really need to fix NPC vendors. And the price for maintence on terminal vendors

It was an odd weekend. I received NO hourly merchant experience on saturday, almost as if they botched something in that morning update. After sunday morning's update though, I was getting it again. Wierd wild stuff...

I am positiveI am getting merchant xp every time someone looks on my vendors. I also seem to get xp every once in a while, which I believe is just the fact I have vendors (I have two shops on two differents planets, 1 vendor in each, both people ). I have Efficiency 2+ now and I am not sure the 0 maintenace cost is intentional........Better than my old bulky at business 3 that shoot up to 80+ maintenance for 20 items....that was silly too.....It wouldn't surprise me though if some people aren't getting their xp......

I have 3 registerd NPC vendors and I get NO trickle XP.

I get XP for visits, but no XP over time like I used to.

Is this intentional???

I have Ad IV, Eff. II, Hiring I, and Management I

Well once again after the server update I stop getting merchant xp. Looks like I should just give up this profession as well.

Strangely enough, it seems like server updates actually HELP my merchant XP.

Woke up around 7am this morning, had about 4K or so.

Come back at 4pm... 8K.

And I didn't really sell all that much.

The way it seems to work for me is that I get exp from people accessing vendors and paying entrance fees, but instead of instant exp, it saves it up and gives me all my exp for an hour at the end of that hour - hence why sometimes you get no exp for several hours - no one uses your vendors. Not sure if this is how it works, but from what I can tell its at least close.

I haven't had any hourly xp for over a week now. I doubt I ever will again really.... I have one unregistered and one registered vendor in the same house. I can account for every bit of xp I get, most of the time I look at my panel and it goes up 50 (access fee) then 50 shortly after (vendor access) then shortly after that I will get an email that says someone bought something.... Now not every time people buy things but it always comes in 100 xp bursts which tells me someone came in my house and looked at a vendor. I also spend alot of time in my house and find the rate I get xp exactly the same as else where and I actually watch the people come in at those times.

The only people who have really had any solid claim that they still get hourly in my eyes are the people who say they don't have their house as a public house, but this still may not account for friends who may have access to the house and thus go and visit every now and then. Everyone else who say they get their hourly xp in spurts after a couple hours of nothing I actually guess have recently had a group of people visit their store. (I have also noticed quite often that groups of 3 who are doin missions together stumble upon your store and will ALL go in and visit yer vendor just one group of 3 gives 300 xp, granted this doesn't account for the 4k that some say they get but still could be one reason=P)

I am still of course trying to figure it all out but I honestly don't think people are getting hourly xp, they just think they are. At least I hope they are not. (At least if they are using NPC vendors, I think this might have to do with them so terminals and droids may work fine).

Well I created a new shop on a new planet and I am getting my hourly xp again. Although the servers are down so that will probably change soon. The trick may be to take down and put back up your vendors after every server reboot.
