Thread: Vendor-bought Items disappearing on transport

I have had a number of customers call me and say the items they bought from my vendor have disappeared when they took a shuttle. This occurs on maybe 5% of sales, and possibly more who accept the loss without contacting me.

Here's where it gets a little more strange. Those who have had the items equipped at the time cannot see the item, but when I see them I can see the item on them myself. Relogging does not make the item re-appear to them. I have generally replaced the item and asked people to let me know if the original shows up later on. To date, no-one has told me it did.

My partner bought a droid from a vendor yesterday. After travelling from the planet it was bought on back to our home world, the droid was gone from his inventory. He relogged, and it still wasn't there. I assumed this was the same bug some of my customers had been experiencing. However, he took a break for a couple of hours later on, and when he came back the droid was back in his inventory. I am not 100% sure whether there was a server reboot while he was taking a break or not.

What I am wondering is, has anyone else experienced this bug, and know how to reliably get the item back? Is it always transport that makes it disappear? Is there anything you can do to stop th item disappearing on transport (put it in a secondary pack or something perhaps)? Do you always get the item back if you fully leave the game, or when the server reboots? Are there cases when the item never returns?

Actually in answer to the last one. When I upgraded my house from a small to a medium, I cleaned out my vendor. Was having trouble retrieving items from the stockroom, so got my partner to buy some of them instead. We did eventually retrieve all items, but later on in the day found that all the items from the vendor were missing. He found his in his pack later, perhaps the next day, but I never found mine. I generally have a fairly full inventory, so not sure if there just wasnt room for them to return to.

Anyway, any help with this would be appreciated. Costs quite a bit to replace every item it happens to, and I would rather be able to offer my customers knowledge on how to remedy the situation.

JUST had this happen to me. Lost my only weapon (by using a weapon repair tool I made and experimented to the max with all the options also experimented to the max.....but that is another rambling gripe) so I went to a vendor on starsider to buy another. Bought it, equiped it, went walking back to town and saw a diseased nuna and thought I'd take it for a test kill. Was told that the nuna was out of range (30 meters, it was a pistol), could not unequip the weapon, could not sit to log out. I /quit, relogged in and no weapon. Went back to the shop, related it to the owner who gave me a Power5 to tide me over. Took a shuttle and that one disappeared! I don't know if it is corruption with a certain vendor or what, since he took the weapon he gave me from his vendor.

I wouldn't replace these - they are ripping you off.

Yes, it's a royal PITA, but I have this happen on a good 75% of my customers - and so far - it's ALL showed back up - sometimes the next day - but it comes back.

When you cross a server line (which my shop happens to be right next to) or take the shuttle - sometimes it takes a long time for the information on newly acquired items to update to where the character currently is.

I have them a) file a ticket and b) contact me if it don't show up the next morning.

So far, I haven't had to replace a thing.

I know this is a rather high priority they are trying to fix - but not heard an ETA on WHEN it might be fixed.

This is a known bug I believe. I have had this happen to me, I have had this happen to my customers. 9 out of 10 times the items returned, either later in the day (not just after logging out but when the gods decided to return it)---once I had to wait til next day/post patch. But they always come back for me.

It's a pain as a merchant. I explain the bug to the victims, apologize, and tell them to wait it out and I would be happy to replace the items if they don't appear. I have yet to have a person not give me a tell later and say "lol they are back in my inventory!" The only person know who lost things forever was my brother who bought a set of Ubese from someone and it never did return (ouch!). Incidentally a CSR reimbursed him....but that was weeks and weeks ago.

I too have had this happen to me ... not as a merchant but as a customer. After buying a gun one day from a vendor, it didnt appear in my inventory. I relogged several times in succession and still no luck. After the 3rd relog, i was bugged to where i couldnt /sit or /logout... had to reboot. I rebooted the system, and still no gun. However, after a proper/sit, /logout AFTER a reboot, the weapon returned. Now i dont know if that was coincidence (religious rituals have sprung up over less) or makes some sort of coding sense, but the item was returned and i was thankful. Now if only i could access my stock rooms ...

Haven't had a customer complain (guess I need more customers), but it happens to me when I remove items from the storeroom and transport them. A quick relog does not solve the problem. I must be logged out for a longer time period. It has been suggested 20 minutes.

We need to keep our customers informed. Several ways, one is to create some cheap clothing and instead of the name, write in the warning. This can stand next to your vendor. Also you could add a warning to the sellers description of your items on the vendor (enabling cut & paste is helpful here).
