Thread: What not to do with Ad III

Hello all,

I wanted to point out something I have noticed, Just because you have AD III does not mean you have to use it ON ALL YOUR VENDORS. As I run around I see people who have 3 vendors in thier house, all 3 have this feature set to ON. You can't read the vendors, they are all stuck on top of each other, all you see it garble-guke on the map.

What I did, and if you have the extra vendors to do it with, I setup a vendor on the top floor of my house, that has nothing in it. I neamed it "Food - Drink - Powerups" and turned the global Ad on, so over my house you see the vendor name, but when you come in, you see a food vendor, and a hunting supplies vendor. I have seen a great deal of people doing this.

I work with an architect and have found if the different vendors are registered under different categories it works well. I am a Chef on Bloodfin, so it makes for an odd combination. A reminder to those new to Ad 3, resources is a category when you register your vendor that stands out on the map.

I thought of this idea myself but I havent trained ADIII yet. (Have the XP just havent learned it yet)

My question however is that if your vendor isnt set to appear on the green city overlay map will it show up on the "Planetary Map" under Vendors? (The one that appears with Ctrl+V) Or will all your vendors show up on that regardless of their "Flag" if you have ADIII?

Not sure about that, but My one vendor I have registered covers all my "real" vendors

I beg to differ. I have three registered vendors in my shop. One sells food, one sells housing, one sells furniture. I named the three accordingly and registered them under the appropriate category. If someone wants food, they're not going to be looking under the "Housing" category, and vice versa. I find this keeps my shop well organized and helps people find exactly what they are looking for.

I use the planetary map, not the overhead map, to find vendors. If I'm looking for a tailor, I open the "Clothing" category, make some waypoints for what I find there, and run to the shop(s). Overhead map only works if you are running through the wilderness hoping to find some random vendor in your travels. And hey, if you're passing the house anyway, you can always stop in and see what's for sale.

I was visiting architect shops based upon the planetary vendor list yesterday. Bumped into another guy doing the same thing. So I vowed to make sure that I went up the advertising line before efficiency because the additional traffic I think it will generate more than compensates for the higher maintenance.

Marqie's right. Just register one vendor. I'd do it with just my shop name and a list of the wares I'm selling. When you do more than one it shows up on the overhead map and player can't read any of them.

What they need to do is make it so you register your shop name and not vendors.

Agreed, i would like to see the register connected to the house, not the vendors. And maybe a way to highlight more than one catagory

Here's the real question, does anyone think that this is actually bringing them any business. I've trained to it and I've yet to have anyone say they found me this way. And if someone needs a waypoint, I'm going to email it to them rather than try to explain the map.

I'm at the point where some skills have to go and I'm thinking this is one of them on the chopping block.

Mostly I just register my weapons vendor for the above reason... but if I ever see a slow down in people visiting or sales, I'll usually register my armor vendor for a day as well and keep the weapons going too. Yes, it's annoying to see the garbled mess of multiple vendors listed in the same house, but boy that armor vendor sure does bring a bunch of people running, definitely worth the extra listing.

One vendor registered doesn't work for me because I sell everything. People looking for resources aren't going to find my name on the map if it is registered only under Weapons. When I look for shops using the global map I open up my map open the category I am interested in and go from there. I don't open them all up on the off chance that someone registered under Weapons also sells clothing.

I made an empty vendor called "Nox's Gun Shop" and put him on the global map.

I agree. It would be better to register the house instead of the vendor.
Then you can name your vendors whatever you like and still have the building labeled as having a vendor in it.
