I just bought Efficiency: IV to drop a Tent, then I was going to retrain Adv: IV, but I when to the bazaar to check on some lights for the tent and saw my items on the Global search. Did they sneak a merchant change on patch 19?

?

your vendors being on the bazaar's vendor search has nothing to do with what skills you have, but rather if you've enabled/disabled the option on your vendor.

So you can have Business III for the Artistan tree and still have you item Searchable from Global Bazaars?

Amazing. Completely non-intuitive isn't it? Why would someone without advertising have the same power as someone with complete training in advertising? The answer....expediency.

The other difference being that if you have Advertising III a player can open up their Planetary Map, go to the display options for Vendor Waypoints, pick your type of vendor category and see your vendor/create a waypoint there. I am not sure how many people navigate this way, altough I do it all the time.

Still, its not a lot of benefit for going 3000 really, mind you neither is saving 20c a day on a vendor listing, being able to dress your vendors up, or having a lot of additional vendors. I think the greatest benefit from Merchanting skills is the ability to have your vendor show on the overhead map, and be able to list and sell more items

Personally, I would love to see a "delivery" option added that allows a remote player do buy directly from your vendor for a 5% delivery fee if they desire. The speed of delivery could be a factor based on Merchant skill, so that a Master Merchant sells you the item remotely instantaneously (or say a minute) and a Novice sells it to you a day later.

Yes. You just can't sell as many items.

Someday they will increase the searchs a day, then there will be less questions like these on the forums.

Thanks you all for your Info, and help

On my merchant, I opted for 3403

I dont care about the voice options of the merchant or having extra types..the biggest thing is to have a large # of merchants, have the planetary map listing, and have the reduced maintenance fees and the tents. I see no point at all in Master Merchant as I never see my stock levels rising to the point where I need that many merchants or that many items listed.

and I utilize the galatic search but most of my traffic has been walkin that noticed my listing because they had the overhead map turned on and realized there were vendors there.

Might be interesting, now that Astromech Stats might be appearing again from time to time, to see a percentage breakdown of how many people currently have Master Merchant.

If it's more than 10% for any server, I'll be surprised -- check that, I'll be very surprised.

Doc, I still have to disagree that the GWVS is a bad thing for Merchants (because itbrings in more business overall)... but having said that, I'm ready to stand with you on finding ways to make the whole Merchant professionmore fun, and makeMaster Merchant worth having. We definitely need more active abilities; we need skills that are fun for usto usewithout limiting the fun of other players.

In short, we need more reasons to want to spend ourprecious skill points on Merchant skillboxes!

I don't expect SWG will ever become a game where being a Merchant is so mind-blowingly fun that 50% of the player population has Master Merchant. (Although that's an interesting concept. ) But this elite profession could and should be a lotmore fun than it is currently.

Is it time for another "what new abilities would you give Merchants" thread? Or is there not much point?
