Thread: IS MASTER MERCHANT REALLY WORTH IT

I am trying to decide wether Master Merchant is really worth the time and the sp. I mean I really only need 2 or 3 venders, and I can have that with novice merchant. Plus is it really important to be put on the planetary map, when my vender is visible on the bazzar search without any of the advertising skills? I know I would not have the cool looking venders that bark phases to welcome or infor customers, but half the time I don't personally pay attention to those anyways (thats just me). Now I can see the use in the Effiency and Management trees, for the multiple venders and venderitem limit mod. But liek I said i only need 2 or 3 venders, and the 500 item limit at Novice Merchant will do me just fine. The only thing that I think I would really be missing out on is the Bark droid, but heck u have to stay logged on to us that right. I am no way trying to say that Master Merchant is useless, I just can't see the point in it. This most likly comes from lack of experience and knowlege on the matter. That is where this post come in, plz tell what u think about having Master Merchant and how it benifits you.

Thx.

Its only uselful if you need those extra 1k items possible on your vendors. Otherwise 3401 is about the most almost all Merchant would need.

Jedi will never be a starting profession...Looted items and quest items will never be better then crafted items, this is not a loot based game...CH will return shortly...CH and BE will not be back in game...Rangers are getting their revamp next!...The stealth system will not be changing in the spy expertise...Need any more examples of things the devs said that did not hold true?

1) Paragraphs are your friend.
2) It depends on your playstyle. Is the item limit granted at novice merchant enough for you?How many vendors do you need?
3) Global search is overrated. Don't underestimate the power of the planetary map listing.
4) Barker droids are nice, but personally I feel they have too many restrictions to be useful.
5) No skill is useless if you benefit from it. To me, combat skills are useless. It's all about your own personal playstyle.

I love having master merchant! I can't live without it. The perks are just too good. In no particular order...

1. Maintenance reduction on all structures. Including ones I am only admin on. If I pay the maint, it gets the discount rate. Houses, tents, harvestors, factories.

2. Vendors on the map. Nothing beats that perk. Not your ad barking droid, your afk ad barking self, hired barkers, gobal vendor search, posting on the forums... nothing.

3. Merchant tents. For your own and other's vendors with less lots and maint. 1 lot. 100 item storage. (My main actually lives in a tent as her declared residence. Like a gypsy.)

4. 12 vendors! Boy howdy ya can't beat that! As a tailor, I use them to separate fashions per customer preferences and they double as fashion mannequins. (Love Hiring 4 for Uniforms!) But you can also use them set to bark as door greeters, to guide customers where else in the shop to look, as part of a display in a museum, etc. You can swap out vendors or reorganize without having to empty and store items from your old ones first. You can host vendors for other crafters to sell from. (You maintain and stock the vendor, they give you the stuff, you pay up front or after sales) Plenty of vendors to play with and 101 uses.

5. Ad barking droids. Ad barking in high traffic zones, of course. (Not in or near a cantina though. That's rude and makes the entertainers insane.) Or as we do in our player city, set one up by the shuttleport as a greeter. "Welcome to Serenity Valley! Please enjoy your visit and please be careful of the Krayts just south of town." Or often I set mine to say "Welcome! Please follow me." And he's on patrol from the shuttleport to the mall and back. Or to the cantina. Or if we are having a special event, to whatever location that is. He's a guide!

6. 4000 items. 'nuff said.

And that's only a few. I can't imagine not having master merchant.

I have to admit that as a DE I couldn't make it without also being Master Merchant.

I have 7 vendors on 3 planets for DE, and also provide my wife with 2 vendors for her BE habit! Restocking can be a (daily) nightmare, but it's where the money comes from!

Make the game your own. Start with 1 vendor, and either grow if you find it fun, or stay small if that's your style. Something in the game for everyone!

I think it logs when you do. Actually, i think if you leave the planet, it will go back into your datapad, but that could be wrong.

Please drop any auction winnings at my vendor on Corellia. It is Abilof Weapons at -1803 2347 just east of the Kor Vella starport or the Fort Qui shuttleport.

Yes, your droid stores when you log off.

If you leave a planet by shuttle the droid will stay put, but if you travel using your own ship (JTL style) your droid will auto-store.
