Debating if want to master merchant, or just use the advertising, merchant aspect of the prof. Do the other trees really pack a punch?

Well advertizing 3 is great, efficiency is pretty useless IMO (you can save 1k a day, hurray!), hiring... hahahaha, and well management is nice if you want more than one vendor.
Apart from that, it will depend where they put the +item per vendors skill in the tree...

there is nothing in this profession worth the skill points...
just get hiring for as many vendors as you feel you need and be done with it.
none ofthe skills actually help you sell anything.
the advertising tree is wortless. people HATE barking vendors and no one really bothers with map listings any more
nothing in this profession will help you sell anything any better than if you didnt have any of the skills...
