So if I read everything right I could pay someone to stand in front of my Vendor: open it: hit refresh: close it: and repeat:
This would produce 50XP everytime he opens and hits the refresh correct?
At a rate of about10 secs to do that - lag <* 50xp = 300 XP a minute * 60 min =18000 XP an hour>
Is this right?

no there is a fifteen min. wait until the same player looking at your vendor will give more xp , and that is for each vendor so the more vendors u have the more xp gained . so all in all u cant really "grind" merchant but the xp is gained easy enough, its the headaches that come with it that are the kicker. hope that helps

Now I hate to beat a dead horse, but I have to say that merchant XP makes no sense at all. First, you get the option to place a vendor in a building that you own, however, in order to advertise it on the planetary map, you need the 3rd level skill in merchant. How in the world are you supposed to get enough merchant xp when your vendor is virtually invisible? Aside from standing in the middle of a city and shouting your shops coordinates and begging people to go there, just how are you supposed to earn any xp? I have had novice merchant for about 2 weeks now, and my vendors are full of pretty good items at a good price...but after 2 weeks I still only have a measley 4000 XP. My shop is in a pretty good location too...I just cant figure it out and am about to give it up. Any suggestions? (merchant is the ONLY profession that I have had any problem with).
