Thread: the dreaded merchant holo prof
You can't grind merchant and you don't get exp for sales.

ok well is the best way to set up a vendor, put a LOT of items for 1 cred on it, then go on my 2nd account and buy them all?
Not only that, but you get more xp per each sale based on the resources that went into the item being purchased. So we all suggest that you load up your vendor with PA halls selling for 1 credit each. No need to read the FAQ or anything beforehand; we know how busy you are holo-grinding and all.

And apparently your should tell Faellyn the location of your vendors. Because I'm sure he would be willing to view your vendor to give you extra merchant exp.

You get NO merchant experience for sales.
I wouldn't dread Merchant as a holo grind, unless you are hating the fact that it would take about a month to do.
I have been levelling up Merchant, just letting the experience flow in as it may. As the others said, get Management I-IV and stash your vendors in the basement of your (public) structure. I am just goofing off and hunting with my friends now, and letting the Merchant experience work on autopilot. It's great since your vendors do all of your work for you.
In my case, I wanted to actually try the profession out, so I started mining resources and putting all of my loot together. I put a second house in a high traffic area by Theed and put two vendors in there (one for resources, one for loot). I am actually making money (I now have the best bank balance I have had since release
) and having fun with this profession. If I had more time to play and dedicate to crafting, I would look in to becoming a crafter and maintaining the business.
If you are adverse to waiting the month for the experience, you can try some of the entrance fee tricks to minimize your wait. I have talked to people that have mastered in days by setting up "merchant experience farms" of 10 homes with access fees, and paying people to run through them. I was considering that, but decided to enjoy the ride instead.
I am half-enclined to get Master Artisan and continue selling some low end stuff.
