Thread: Hiring II or Advertising I worth it?
Hiring II will get you a great selection of 10 alien NPCs. Of course, you probably prefer the droids as vendors for your shop, but the NPC vendors only cost about 25 credits per day in maintenance.
Advertising I is SUPPOSED to give you Ad Barking, which lets you setup a vendor (NPC only I believe) to speak to customers who enter your store. It's a stock-phrase that essentially welcomes the customer (often by using their name or race) and tells them in general what they can find in the vendor (Equipmet, Armor, Weapons, Housing, etc). However, it only works some of the time. Disabling and re-enabling will ocassionally help to restore ad barking, but it seems to break aftera few minutes or hours.
And Advertising II is completely broke, since no one seems to be able to create a custom ad barking. I suppose Advertising III might be worth it to get your vendor on the Planetary Map, but even that is broken (notice a pattern here?) and has to be reset almost every day.
Of course, it will take a LONG time to get up to Advertising III, unless you hire more vendors. But it will cost you a fortune to maintain those vendors, unless you get the NPC versions. So I would suggest (if you're masochistic enough to continue with the Merchant profession by this point) to get additional vendors, deploy NPC vendors to save cash, then work your way up to Advertising III. Don't bother with Hiring III, since it only gives you another terminal option and doesn't seem to be worth it.
Hello, I am a droid eng by trade but I have been learning some merchant skills to improve my droid shop. I have novice and hiring 1 but they don't buy me much. I am trying to have a droid vendor in my shop that talks to people as they come in. Could someone tell me at what level of hiring that you get some good droids? The power droid so far is worthless. Also I hear that trying to get your vendors to speak with advertising 1 is broke? Is it worth me getting this skill?
Thanks
