Thread: New city structure idea-in conjunction with a new ability for a master merchant.

What Star wars galaxies needs is a special city structure called a 'mall'. It would take 0 lots and only be allowed 1 per city. It would be dropped bya master merchant and they would reign king over it. it would have several small rooms for venders and would have multi-levels (not sure what is realistic maybe 70 rooms total).... The mall manager would have the ability to evict from this special structure. and could set policy at the control terminal such as no vender spam, or yes vender spam... He could, from the control panel, see all merchants and would be able to send a 30 dayeviction notice to empty venders or problematic venders.Could have a mall Tax as well instead of or in conjunction with a sales tax... This would give architects another structure to build add to cities in general and stimulate commerce. The mall manager could send e-mail to "mall" and hit all the vender owners... It would provide a more consistantmallfor cities and would freefolks from the bind of a 9 lot guild hall for the purpose of a mall....The list goes on.. What does the community think about this?

Great idea but will never happen. Devs don't think of stuff like this. In player citys docs can drop med centers, muscians cantina's, and us...well...we got a tent. It took them 5 months from lauch to give us vendor tents and5 moremonths to throw us these advertisement droids. There hasn't really been any good innvocations in Merchant at all besides them fixing the bugs that plauged us for months and months. I mean who here has to go through 20+ vendors (even at master) to get a good nice looking not old, not wrinkled, and not fat looking npc vendor? At master we should get more custimization options when it comes to the creation phase of our vendor. Why is it that even at master, our NPC selection is still random. Or sure we can choose the race but thats it, rest is left up to the luck if the draw.You have to go through the create vendor/exmaine/destroy roller coaster to get a descent looking vendor. And now you want them to put in one great idea like a mall structure that can stand as a center shopping district for player cities? HA! Devs will never let life be that good. You must be playing Star Wars Fantasy World. But your idea is great, i would even like to hear some kind of dev responce on this possibility but hey, asking for a dev to look in here and say something besides "we're working on it" is something i won't hold my breath on

The Mall idea has been floating around for a while and is on our wish list. The 0 lot thing is a fantasy though. All player owned structures take lots. Period.

Actually medical centersin player cities as well as cantinas do not take lots... or so I am told... I know the garage does not, orthe shuttleport, the city hall, or the theater.. That's why it would be good to get this as a city special structure since they do not take up lots . It would also benefit more then one character profession which the Devs seem to put more priority into.


Everyone potentially benefits...Merchants,Architects,Politicians, all players inthe player city, as well as all the customers of the merchants who belong in the mall.

Hahha..that shouldn't take all that long.


I don't know what the revamp will entail when it comes. I hope it will include some much needed work on the interface and make things much easier for us to put items up for sale in quanitity. Beyond that I'm not sure. The assumption is that it will also include some form of item limitation for vendors which started at 150 items and is supposed to be changed now to a number indexed to your merchant skill. I haven't seen any current proposals on that for months.


I do know they are working on the server side code for the vendors/bazaar and hopefully that will make things much more efficient.
