Forgive me if this issue has been raised and shot down... I don't spend much time on these boards...
But it was my understanding that SOE didn't allow private vendors because they didn't want us using them as storage space....
Well they have since put caps on how much you can have on a vendor, so that kind of makes that excuse a moot point.
I'm tired of not being about to have a vendor where I can put items for my guild at a discounted price. Or a place I can put special orders for people and not have someone else buy it.
How about at the very least if we could make it where only a certain character could buy an item.?
We need something... this idea that I can't have a "private" vendor is very unrealistic.

yes I have to agree with Wrayth on this fully.
There needs to be some control over this, as people wind up grabbing items off people's vendors not intended for them and while the devs may state that its part of the game and people should just deliever them by hand this is very unrealistic.
There should be some way of delievering an item or set of items to the customer, private vendor, item delievery service or anything but this theft of products is a real issue.

They have? I was looking through a resource vendor today that had 900+ items on it. I guess it could have had that much stock on it before a change of this sort took place, but then again it was holding very recently shifted resources.
I have a storage vendor, I simply price everything at 99999999. 30 days after I price and sell the itme, I need to resell it, works well. As for special orders, I name bags, warn others NOT to buy it if it isnt theirs, and ban anyone who doesnt obey the rules. Zero tolernace goes a long way.
I know the system isnt perfect, and can certainly be done better, but theres a metric arseload of bugs Id like fixed well before any change to vendors takes place.

Agreed. We need to be able to either have Private Vendors (with access lists) or items that can be flagged with "Order For (Name)" and can only be bought by the person in question.

Storage Vendor... this is true, but can be a real pain...
As for your method of special orders... that's fine for normal customers, but it does help deal with a griefer who decideds to go in and buy every customer order on your vendor just to do it cause they have too much money on their hands....
This kind of stuff happends in the PvP realm.
Your point about the other bugs needing fixed is valid, 'cept that they have multiple teams who work on differenent aspects of the code... they could at least start looking at it or discussing it.

Put faction allegiance on there while we're at it. I've always wanted to have a vendor that gave rebels half price and imperials double price.
To my mind that's what being a "covert rebel" is all about...
My current solution is to put a minefield outside my front door, and every now and then do a search for "faction=Imperial" and add every name that comes up (i.e. every overt Imperial in the area) to the ban list. It's not perfect, but it does tend to get me more rebel customers and fewer Imperial ones.

The idea of half price/double price on faction is great because very often people Do charge less or more based upon that. It's codable.
There MUST be something done about earmarking custom orders. We shouldn't be helpless to stop people from griefing like this. The access fees are capped at 50K, to have avendor you must be public. The ways to try to get around being shafted for now consume so much more time. This is a very neglected area right now.

If you have a special order set up a house or tent and just put them on the floor of the building. When the costumer bank tips you give him or her administrator rights to the building. Then they can go pick it up. Privet vendors are a bad idea it allows you to store items on it that you do not want to sell. That is the only reason any one would want this tip of change. For you guild that is a copout because you can always give them administrator rights to one or your storage houses and them being in you guild they should be trusted. If not why are you giving them a deal.

Having private vendors wont allow you to use them for storage any more effectively than you already can by charging 99,999,999 credits for every item on your public vendor.

As stated, special orders can easily be handled if you have a small house or tent to utilize for it. Make it public, set the entrance fee to 50k, and put up the vendor. The vendor than can hold storage (at 99,999,999 or what ever amout) and/or special order bags withan agreed on name. The legit buyer(s) can be placed on the entry list to escape the entry fee. If one feels that someone may pay the 50k just to access the vendor and special orders, than a few decoy bags can be set on it as a deterrent, and the offender(s) can be formally banned. I have noticed that no-one pays the 50k entry feejust to see if there is a vendor to abuse. Just an idea.
