Surveying Dathomir is difficult without combat skills. What I do is go to the Science Outpost (the southern one) and head south. It seems the mobs thin out, the forest thins out and the terrain is flatter. Then I start surveying. I always seem to find a good spot of whatever I'm looking for there. Now I feel like I just gave away my secret fishing spot. lol.

Heh, you're not the only one. I do the same thing, it's the only part of Dath that is remotely friendly to planting harvesters.

On some planets, the key is knowing where high concentrations of certain types of resources tend to congregate. On Dathomir, it's about knowing where the flat areas are.I have harvesters on Dathomir approximately 50% of the time. In every case except 1, an acceptable(70+%) spot in the large flat areas south of the science outpost was found.

The two annoying aspects of Dathomir for me are the long ride (5000m or so) to the flat areas and the large number of red mobs that can force you to kneeling (which will knock you off your bike). This makes it tough to do other things during the long ride.

Nah, because you aren't the only one...Now, just don't tell about the other places...

Ill have to disagree with this. I say that Rori os the worst place to do that. I was on Dath not more than a few weeks ago and I had a nice flat 97% spot of some really nice fiberplast. Now Rori I can spend hours and hours getting a good spot, just so dam much water and hilly terrain.

Dathomir is pretty terrible but I actually have the most trouble on Endor. I'm pretty used to the Dathomir terrain beacuse of my combat character and have gotten good avoiding the ever friendly Singing Mountain Clan ladies (Imperial so I help out the NSs). Endor on the other hand... if it's not SBDs half the planet away from the DWB it's Black Suns knocking you off your bike.

But if you find something good on Dathomir, south of Science and near the Village are probably your best bets.

I have a slightly different opinion (although I agree with most on the various planets): the heavy populated planets are a pain. Corellia and Tatooine on FarStar. The pain to find nice resource deposits and not being able to plant the harvester! The "surveyable" areas get slimmer and slimmer.
