Thread: I HAVE A NEW BUG SINCE JTL STARTED W/MY BARKER DROID. IS THIS OLD NEWS?

When I drop a barker droid anywhere, I can then travel from planet to planet using the starports/shuttleports. Everything works great.

The problem arises when I drop a barker droid then I travel using my spaceship. I have experimented both ways.

If I go into space itself and fly around, my barker droid instantly disappears and is back in my data pad.

If I just travel using my ship without actually flying in space, my barker droid instantly disappears and is back in my data pad.

So how come I can travel using the starport system and my droid continues working, but when I use my own ship, my droid disappears?

This is something that needs fixed right away. I personally get a lot of business from using my barker droid to advertise.

But I know when I am in space that it is not working. I am sure this is something that can be fixed. I'm confident that this was not

part of the design of the game. Has this issue already been brought up?

Its technically not a bug. The droids store on launch on purpose but I've yet to get an answer for why that is yet. It was added late in JTL beta. I have brought up the implication it has for barker droids but so far I don't have a response yet.

Thanks Doc,

I know that alot of people liked being able to pull more than one Barker at a time and this was fixed. As I never knew you could do this, I won't miss it I suppose... /sigh

The multi-pull exploit was a different issue. That was fixed because people were abusing it to spawn 100's of AT-ST's. The droid store at spaceship launch was added in late in beta for some other reason. I don't recall the reason ever being mentioned.

Acutally this is not a bug. This is exactly how it was intended to work. When the DE profession publich came it was said that these droids would only say barking with the current planet you are on. After publich or publich I think that changed where there was a bug that allowed the droid to stay active while you went to others planets. I was the first DE on my server to actually make a barket droid and it was posted and stated that is how the droids would work.

I think they should change how it should work since JTL is out now and it makes sense to have your droid barking whilee you are in space, but it was orginaly designed to only be working on the currently planet that you are present on.

I'm not 100% sure that this is correct; however what I gathered from the change was that not having droids store on space launch was interfering with people who were using droids in their ships. If the Astromech used in the ship was called on the ground, the Astromech would not join you in space correctly. This was a big issue with people not being able to use their droid in space.

The problem with this 'fix' is that it is the standard blanket fix that is normal to many droid fixes, instead of targetting the specific problem at hand. Now that the multi-pull exploit has been dealt with, we can hope that this issue can be addressed in a manner that is benefical to everyone. Rest assured, it is on my 'wish list' of items that needs to be changed.

That sounds about right Drashk. I don't remember precisely the any reports about it during JTL beta but it makes sense.

the whole point of a barker droid is to sit there and spam announcements for you while you are free to play the game. it's kind of pointless to have a barker droid when you have to babysit it
