I try never to make guesses about how difficult something is (I fail in that often but I try not to do it) because invariably its more complex than we appreciate from the outside of the code. I know from my own code the most simple changes can be huge undertakings because of the way things work behind the scenes. I happen to agree that this one looks rather simple on the outisde. I've floated the suggestion before I'll take another run at it.
