Thread: Vendor Question..

Just wondering if it's posible to get the

Merchant profession and create 2 npc

vendors then drop it and retain the

vendor type?

I really don't want more then 2 vendors

yet, but really do despise the bulky and

robo-bartender.

Not trying to exploit or anything, still only

want/need the 2 vendors and 250 item

totals, just would prefer them to be npc's

Also, if you went all the way up to Managment

4 (I think it is anyway) to dress them then

dropped down to Artisan business 4 would

that work as well?

Not sure if I'll get flamed here for taboo

exploiting, just wondering if it is doable

and/or acceptable practice.

Any help is appreciated.

You might just have saved yourself an egging a'la DingoBoi with that last paragraph

To answer your question - both of those are possible. You can grind up Merchant, get some NPC vendors, dress them and then drop down to Artisan business IV and as long as you only have two vendors everything will keep working. However, doing this is frowned upon by some (most?) of the Merchant community, since it means you're getting the advantages of Merchant without the skill point investment. I'm fairly sure the Devs didn't intend for this to be possible. It's really up to you. Can you really not spare the extra six skill points for Novice Merchant that would let you get NPC vendors "legitimately" (OK, so you wouldn't be able to dress them, but sometimes the clothes look OK)?

Thank you for the kind reply

Will have to try to either find a way to free up

2 more skill points or live with bulky vendors.

Last thing I want to do it rely on something that

could be considered and exploit or bug

I honestly dont see a problem with it, i was a master merchant for a long time, now im not,, still 3-0-4-4 why i keep global is beyond me, its totally useless. Anyone that uses global and checks vendors knows what im talking about. 90% of the vendors are crap.

I look at it this way. You spent your money and time on advertising, getting work uniforms highering the best of the best.. But then you decide you like what you've got, you have no desire to buy your worker a new out fit. Now he is stuck at his go nowhere job, whearing the same uniform for the same pay for the next 20 years.

Though some say this isnt how the system is ment, well even if you keep uniforms say. should you just beable to put one on and leave it for the next 5 years? to me thats just as big of taking advantage of a game engine. One way would be to add a clothing decay system. That would keep merchants having to re outfit there vendors. The ones that drop would be stuck with a default, or relevel.

Also just cause you are nolonger advertising to hire a wide variety of merchants, aka getting to pick more. that shouldnt mean your guy is gonna quit. Though a slight increase in pay rate could be instore for a lvl of vendor that is about what you have skill points for. The vendors are purely for looks and have no difference in how they work. A robo- or proticol, or wookie all work the same way. they speak the same, cost the same, blah blah blah. to me if someone wants to keep it its there deal they made with the npc.

The difference? They cant rehigher. i do this all the time. They cant change uniforms, this is another i do alot. To me thats what the skill is all about. If you randomed enough vendors you might get the exact outfit/merchant you where looking for anyway. Soo really the system is about ease of use, not you cant have that vendor, with very few exceptions. Yes no flames for the list of names you cant get at low lvls, but the point is the same.

The skills allow you to change when ever you want. a BIG sale could mean a uniform change, a theme night in your cantina could mean a whole group of new vendors just for the weekend. Thats what merchant is,, not putting 1k Min/max power upson a single vendor and going and playing youir jedi. Though 1k items and restocking can be merchanting.. but not always.

I have yet to see a demonstable gain from it that hurts other merchants...so I say, why not?
