I've read here that it's a bug; when I put in a ticket CSR's tell me that having to delete all the vendors is "as it's intended".
Which is it? Or maybe this has been fixed recently (haven't tried since last couple publishes).
I really need to know this, as I'm closing my accounts but don't want to leave all my fellow merchants stuck in a nasty situation.

I have not had a single problem (and transferred a house today with 10 vendors up and running) transferring,
so take it as a bug, if you cannot tranfer.

Thank you, Ani-cul. Would have been a nightmare for these merchants to have to unload and move so many vendors; guess I'll arrange a transfer soon!

It was a bug. Sorta.. and it was fixed a few weeks ago.
The story is this. There was code put in to restrict transfering houses when you had items in it that weren't allowed to be traded. This prevented you from using your house to give people things you weren't supposed to be able to give them. Guess what...you can't trade vendors..they are marked as untradable items therefore the new code stopped the house transfer. It wasn't that the developers intentionally coded in the check for vendors it was just caught in the same net. They fixed it after it was brought to their attention.
It is easy to see from this where CS was confused. The code restricting house transfers WAS intentional. The fact that vendors are untradeable WAS intentional. The fact that the two worked together in this instance WAS NOT intentional.
Tiggs was very clear to me every time I asked about it that it was a bug.

Ok, now I'm curious about what items are considered un-tradable but can still be dropped in a house.
Everything I know about that can't be traded can't even be dropped anyway.

Good to know.
Seems like someone else with admin could just come along and pick them up, tho.

You can't though. It tells you that you can't manipulate that item.

Then I wonder why it won't let us drop other no-trade items.
I've got several things I would love to display that can't be dropped.

The code to prevent people from picking them up and the house from being transfered is all relatively new. (Happened during the development of JTL ) and so it is probable that those ealier items just weren't changed after the safeguards were put in place.

Quest rewards is the most common example. That Mark of Tatooine pieces are a good example. You aren't allowed to trade these items or sell them, but you can put them in a house that you own.
