Well, I usually don't take advantage of exploits, but I'm not planning on being a merchant so I figured I'd share the wealth.

About 10 days ago, I joined a PA and placed an un-intialized vendor in my PA hall just for show. I am a Master Artisan (business IV) and was asked to place this vendor by my guildmates as an advertisment thing.

Anyway, I maxed out 10,000 merchant xp in about 3 days. Nothing was placed on this vendor and it was my only vendor. My husband, who is a merchant, tried the same in his shop. He also received about 5,000 xp in about 24 hours. My vendor was a bartender droid and his was a bazaar teminal.

We have not tested this since the 9/4 patch.

Nice observation... But given the general consensus is that merchant xp is 150 per hour per vendor, 50 for access fee, and 50 per sale per unique player. Given that... about 72 hours at 150 xp per hour for your vendor, you get your 10k xp. Therefore this isn't an exploit. But given the symantics of xp gain (i.e. not getting something for nothing) this might be a bug in the eyes of the developers. You should probably type /bug in game and fill out the report saying un-initialized vendors are giving xp. Take care!

Thanks, Juht

Admittedly I don't know anything about merchant xp, but I did see this as pretty strange. I wish I got my crafting or pistol xp this fast. Anyway, I did write a CSR, but we all know how long that takes.
