ALL my customers lose the items they have bought when they leave my shop ! How am I supposed to keep my customers in these conditions? Why would they keep shopping at my shop when they can get stuff that won't disappear somewhere else? When people buy something they want it NOW, they don't want to wait one day to have what they buy ! I am fed up with getting tells everyday asking where the stuff went, as if it was my fault !

Bump.

I am going to keep this thread bumped and create a thread in the discussion forum for this bug. Almost EVERY DAY I get this same thing happen, and I have to rely on the customer to be honest and tell me whether stuff shows up the next day. Either they are not all honest or stuff does not show up but I am SICK of this bug. I sold 6 crates of bounty hunter droids tonight to one guy worth about 50,000 credits, and he sends me a tell that half of them disappeared.

This is a bug that kills my droid businessbecause it kills sales and customer confidence in buying my products.

I have noticed this happening with a few of the vendors that I buy from. One in particular. Every time I buy an item, it poofs for a day.

The one thing that i have noticed from the vendors that sell disapearing reappearing items, is that they are all on or next tooa server boundry.

Not sure if this helps. Or is this is whatis causing this to happen to some vendors, and not all of them.

Easy way to check if yer on a server boarder. Get a pet. Pets will stop walking as soon as they hit a servr boarder. You have to give the follow command a few times before they get across it. Since the latest patch, you can tell you crossed a server boarderbecause your data pad wil stop working. This is very annoying on Tat outside of Eisley, cause that seems to be an area criss crossed with server boundries. Makes it hell when you are surveying for resources

Thank Trolgar for this corroboration about the server boundary. My shop is southeast of Coronet City in Naritus Galaxy, and there IS a server boundary in between me and the city.

Of course, what can I do: Move shop to try to get a place where I am on same server as city, or tell customers not to go back to Coronet after buying stuff from me? Obviously the second one is impossible, and the first requires me moving my established business location where many people know where to find me.

If I knew that 100% of the time items returned the next day, that would ease my pain somewhat but I do not know this for sure.

This happened to my wife and I with an added twist. Friday she bought an FWG5 and DX2, I got a vibroblade and rykk. Not 5 minutes out of the shop heading back to Coronet to catch a shuttle for Tyrena poof. Did the logging-out/loging in deal, put in tickets. yadda yadda Nothing, continued to grind the rest of the night on old weapons afer having lost over 3 hours of grind time and 36k. Saturday both my blades re-appeared (server reboot finally did it I guess), only her DX2 came back. So off to the shop for another FWG5, net loss 9k. This time we bought it and didn't come near the city boundary for a good 15 minutes. Got back to Tyrena after that and all was well so we went to see the best slicer on the planet and got everything sliced, very good night. Sunday morning she logs back in and lo... the sliced FWG5 is gone and in it's place is just the standard FWG5.

If we hadn't of been less than 5K xp from hitting a Master level Friday night SoE could have kissed our $30 a month good bye. Prolly not a unique story and I know our tickets fell on deaf ears just like the ticket about the deed to a personal wind generator we'd built that poofed out of my safe deposit box while all the other deeds remained, but figured I'd post anyhow in a vain attempt to bump these kinds of threads to get some attention from SoE.

How do you detect a server boundry?

We had a good idea of where it was cause we'd placed the weapons in the hotbar and I actually had my inventory open looking at stats when the items poofed. I don't know how you can tell normally but that's how we figured it out, about 10-20 meters after where the poof happened we got the message about just entering Coronet.

When Items poof while you are holding them, you can lose two items.

This mainly happens with weapons.

You buy a new weapon, yuo equip it. it poofs while it is equiped.

So you equip your old weapon, play, and log. when the server resets, or teh inventory data base updates, the new weapon will reappear, and it will reappear in your hand, because it was equiped when it poofed. The old weapon that was in your hand when you logged will be gone.

Here is the fix. If a weapon poofs while you are holding it. ALWAYS unequip any items that are in its place before you log out for the night. That way, when the poofed item returns, there will be room in your hand for it to reappear, and not cause the item that you were holding to poof when it does.

You hand/leg/arm/wrist/head/torso all only have one inventory slot. so when an item comes back it has to remove what is there in order to come back. unfortunatly, it does not place it in your main inventory when it does. It puts it in limbo.

All those weapons that people lose will reappear. When they send the angry email, I always explain what happens, and let them know to make sure that if they equip another item in its place, unequip it before they log out for the night.

Just realized that your shop is abut the same location as the shop I buy from that poofs items. SE of Coronet. right across the river. its only 800m from the Corenet starport. GREAT location for a vendor. Gratz on getting a place there. Cept that has to be the nastiest server boundry in the game. The boundry cuts right across the river.

Pets hate that boundry. It can take up to 5 minutes to get a pet across it. You have to stand 3m from your pet, give the follow command, walk 3m, and give the follow command again. Rinse and repeat 3-4 times to get them across.

The worst server boundry was actually West of Kaadara. There where two places along that server boundry that would crash you to desk top when you crossed it. One was right along the beach. The other was a little further up from the beach in the flat grasslands. Was hell when I used to live out there. Lotta items poofed when crossing that boundry as well, but they did fix the desktop crash. Items still poof when crossing there tho...

I am next to a server bundary. If people leave my shop for Bestine then come back, the item reappears. From what I know, all the items have come back, except one, and always because the inventory of the person was full when it decided to come back (and that person was me ).

Other thing - someone told me that she saw an item disappear, but his son on the other computer was still seeing it. (want to buy an edit button)

This are all excellent data points. Thank you very much everyone.

You can usually tell server boundaries by the fact that pets stop following you and you have to do what the above poster said and tell them to Follow for 10 times.

Bumping this thread again.

Still fed up with this problem. Keeping this thread bumped and a thread I started in the SWG discussion forum.
