I dont like this idea at all. In the end it will have merchants being worthless. Everyone will just "buy" a vendor and completely ignore merchants.

I am not one of them, but there are merchants out there who do not have a craft. They are a middle man and sell others items. They should have that option in being a merchant.

What would be the point of a merchant then?

This may be a workable idea if a few changes were added:

  • Allow us to sell one of our available vendor slots(master merchants receive 6 vendors but aren't likelyto use all 6).

  • Let us receive a merchant-setable percentage of the sale value of every item purchased from the vendors.

This way one master merchant would only be able to support 6 clients at most. It also rewards the merchants who negotiate contracts with the most in-demand crafters.
