Thread: WARNING: Vendor stockrooms
He said this is by design and they would not replace or give credits for the items I lost from my stockroom.
Merchants beware.

It's always been like that but the time is longer than 7 days ... closer to 2 weeks. This was actually a big help to me when the game first came out since I had a ton of unretrievable stuff stuck in my stockroom so I just waited a couple of weeks and sure enough ... *poof*
Thes dayes, I always pull everything out of the stockroom once a week or so and re-stock it to reset the timer.
Bump for this thread as I lost over 250,000 street-value of Master-level weapons to this *bug*. Yes, I still think it's a bug when things disappear with no warning whatsoever...
This also applies to the Bazaar and has been active since Beta. This is nothing really new to the game, but certainly good information for those who weren't aware.
Basically items have a shelf life of 14 days on a vendor/bazaar. 7 on and 7 off. Make sure to stay up on your wares.
You should be able to play this game without keeping up on the forums. This undocumented deletion of possible valuable items is a BUG. If the devs wish to keep this, then they need to send an email to the owner of the items telling him that his items will be deleted. Then, if he doesn't retrieve the items the next time he signs on... THEN the items are deleted.
This game PUNISHES casual players. People that play every 3rd day or so struggle to be crafters, as their harvester may have been doing nothing for the last three days because of resource shifts. Casual merchants find that their items have been in the back room for 3 days and not available for sales.
Now, suppose I go on vacation for 2 weeks. I LOSE EVERYTHING in my store.
Not a pleasant thought.
Agreed. This is a load of... well, I probably shouldn't use that word in a public forum. But you get my drift. There is no documentation of this "feature" anywhere. That makes it a bug.
I've now heard that items which fall back to the storeroom last 2 days, and 7 days. Anyone know which it really is? I'm more inclined to believe 7, as I've had unretrievable listings last about that long before they rotate off, but the 2 day thing worries me.
My answer is 7 days, but...
When they patch a server it has lowered this. I have lost some within a 3 day period. My frozen items took 7 days to disappear.
Yea the deleting is a little annoying, but why are those items in your stockroom? Basically either because you are storeing them there(exploiting the house item limit) or the auction had ended. A casual player is not one that can't get on each 7 days for 20-30 minutes to click some buttons and type some amounts in to sell for.
If you can't get on for 20-30 minutes a week, you more than likely have a lot going on in RL and losing those items is probably the least of your worries. If you are using it for storage buy another house and put items in that. Lots shouldn't be a problem since you only play for 20-30 minutes. Harvestors take a lot more than that a week to keep up.
I lost a full suit of Composit Armor and was told by the CSR that the stock room was not meant for storage and that is the way it was intended.
I wrote back that I understood that they are having challenges with their database size, but making the stockroom delete after 2 days is not convenient for a casual gamer. I am waiting for a reply. I am sure they will say they will not reimburse me.
You know from watching these boards I get the distinct impression people want to be Merchants, getting the benefits of the Profession, but don't want to actually BE Merchants. In other words noone wants to work for it.
I see nothing wrong with a 7 day cycling of items. 7 days is not too hard to keep up with. Usually if something of mine doesn't sell in 7 days it means I need to adjust my prices to try and get it sold. Usually.
Don't be afraid to actually earn your keep and deal with some nuances of the Profession. They all have ups and downs, without some 'downs' there wouldn't be any balance.
