Is it possibile to set up a day-cap (or week-cap, or month-cap... a time-cap) for the number of items a player can buy from a vendor?

Many players do have a read-me item which specifies a limit, and warns that if a person exceeds that limit he or she will be banned from the shop permanently. I'm not sure how effective such a warning is, however.

I am obviously missing something. Why would you ever want to prohibit a person from buying more from you? Wouldn't you want to encourage sales?

There could be many reasons.
1) A limited extra cheep sale perhaps, say republic blasters at 20% normal price, then put a 1 /week on it to avoid someone buying you out and reselling at a higher cost.
2) A promotional offer, say selling cheap power-ups, say a 1 cr each. Set the limit to 1/day so that al you customers can get a cheep power-up to try out, but without a few persons buying them all.
3) If you wad to run a shop that serves the community in some matter and do not care about having billions in you bank account. It could be resource sale, of Talusien water-vapour, where you do not wand to be the exclusive supplier of one over zealous doctor or reseller, and you do not wand to rip off your old time customers by increasing the price 10 times.
4) If you simply can not keep up with demand of a item many buy in large amounts, say foods and spices. And you again do not wand to raise the price to something un reasonable.
There is a limit to how many credits you can use throe normal game play, earning above that have no point, and much less if making the credit begins to feel like a jop.
