Ok, you guys complain about non-merchants having vendors...I have an offer.

Show me that it can work. Show me how I get paid when you get the sales information.

Set up a vendor ... and buy my products and re-sell them. Show me that you can make me more money using your skills.

Contact me in game ... negotiate a buy/sell price ... and I will give it a try. Check out my current shop (waypoint in signature) and before you yell and scream about all of the vendors ... I don't own most of them ... others do.

If you do a good job for a consistant period of time ... I will remove my vendors and use you full time.

I'll just wait until they fix it. Gives me more leverage.

Jedi will be rare and difficult - No
Increased Dev communication - No
CU will balance combat - No
Most of the bugs from launch fixed - No
saintchuck will continue to pay - No

- I supported the CURB, the Devs and the attempt to make SWG a better game and have realized it didn't work so I'm quitting in less than 2 days and won't be tricked into coming back again. Trick me once, shame on you...

I figure this is the opportunity to give the merchants a chance ... they claim that it is their job and that we are treading on their ground ... so here is the opportunity.

Now, Geevo, I KNOW you're cool from the smuggler boards, but coming in here like this isn't cool. Given that post, I would tell you, "given I have no idea who you are or what you sell, I'd have to know more before I go, 'yeah sure, let me get my checkbook.'"

If you want to sell spice on vendors then wait until I get operations up and running. I'm going to have vendors in several spots in the galaxy, and if you wanna put up some of the supplies that's cool by me. But comin' in here callin' us out, sayin', "Allright, boys. Buy somethin'. I dares ya." isn't necessarily a good way to start a business relationship.

JTGAlpha:

As for what I am selling, I don't limit it to just Spice or Smuggler supplies. I also have everything ranging from houses, weapons, factional items, armor, and even a city hall. It is whatever I think I can make a profit on, for example the two large Naboo Houses I was offered for $50k each. It is my view as a Smuggler to find ways to make a profit, and purchasing houses or factional items at discount when people want to unload them .. it creates a wide variety of items.

As for how the whole merchant thing works ... I don't know ... that is why I got my own vendors (and now don't have any merchant skills but still have my merchants). My biggest level of discomfort is ensuring I get paid on these items. I know on my vendor, I get paid without a hassel ... right into my bank account. But I am unable to advertise, nor do I spend much time taking care of my vendors.

I disagree with the merchant view that I should lose my vendors, I think that I have lost the ability to PLACE vendors, however I respect the views of the merchants and want to try to run it the way the Merchants think it should, however I do not want to lose out because of it.

Right now I have four vendors in my small house.

1) Geevo's Smuggler Supplies (run by someone else)

2) Geevo's Contraband (run by me)
3) Geevo's Resources (run by someone else)
4) Geevo's Everything Else

1) All of the tools to become a smuggler and maintain operations

2) Anything that is listed as Contraband by Imperials (Spice, Sliced items, Factional Items)

3) (self explanitory)

4) (self explanitory)

If the merchant that teams up with me tells me I am an idiot for location or something ... I am fine, I just want to make more money. If he/she wants to adjust pricing, I am fine with that as well. The end result is the net profit should increase.

Yes, the intent was a challenge...mostly because of the uncertainty and discomfort of releasing some of my control. However it was intended as an attempt to meet the expectations of Merchants that non-merchants do not have vendors.

The ideas I have in my head on this (which could be totally off base) is that as a Merchant picks up items, I get paid the cost of the items (maybe a small profit) until it is sold ... then I get more profit. Or if the merchant wants to buy outright at a discount and mark up the price ... either / or. But as I said, when dealing with a Merchant, I am clueless.

I hope this clears up my frame of mind a bit, and what I have to offer.

I've done several of these kinds of deals in my mall. I actually don't sell any of my own products anymore. I have the people I'm running the vendor for keep track of their inventory and then get paid when it's up. I only charge rent. Course I also run Landra's Armor Works and Yaman's Weapon Extravaganza, so I can afford to not charge too much.

Well if you have items that will sell, a merchant would probably buy the first run off of you, sell it at a slight markup for time, trouble, and maintence, and depending on how it sells, work something out. Everyone has their own way of doing it. Some buy and sell, others work on consignment (you give me the goods, I sell'em and then give you your cut).

Thing is, the way you describe your business it's not like we're able to look and go, "Oh HEY! That's EXACTLY what I wanted to sell!" You could have crappy houses. You could have low level spices (I know you're a master smuggler, but does anyone else on this forum?). All I'm sayin' is, walkin' in here, drawin' a line in the sand and sayin', "Sell my stuff, I dare you." just doesn't make us wanna leap up and strike a deal.

As for if I would or not? I dunno. Lemme get my cantina up and running and I'll let ya know. I got my own business to run right now. My shop is a sideline at the moment. But I'm hardly a typical player.

Understood JT ... I am probably assuming stuff that I shouldn't because I am more used to the Smuggler forum where at least (most of) the Intrepid Smugglers know who I am.

As I said, it is a variety of items ... that I just have sitting on vendors ... no advertising or anything.

Please understand, I am not saying "this is how I will do it" ... all I am saying is "I don't know anything ... these are the thoughts in my head." ... if I am way off base ... or my ideas are wacky ... cool ... tell me ... the whole intent is to conform more to Merchant desires and hopefully benefit myself.

As for selling spice ... I think the market has gone down since the Chef revamp ... Spice seems to be for the poor now ... but heck ... I am sure we (Smugglers) will get a revamp sometime this century too.

Also, on a final note...I do appreciate your feedback...I really do.
