Thread: Yet another vendor idea: Limiting quantities

I'd like the ability to limit quantities. When I was going up merchant and DE, I made tons of R5s, Treadwells, DZ70s and MSEs and sold them forone credit on my vendors just to get people into the store. I set one vendor to bark out a "Please, one per customer" message but it was ignored by just about everybody and some people would buy half a dozen droids. This defeated my goal of getting XP and putting more droids out on the street.

Now I'm an architect and specialize in crafting supplies. I deal in harvesters, factories, stations and tools. Every now and then, somebody will come in and clean me out of my 15.0 ratedcrafting tools. It's not that I don't want to sell them, but for me as a crafter I want to see a lot of people using my product. I don't like resellers, if I wanted to deal with resellers I wouldn't be a merchant myself.

What I want is simply a way to limit the number of items any one customer can purchase. If somebody wants to make a large order, they can contact me so I'm prepped for it. Cleaning out my vendor is good for business short term, but long term it's bad for my image as a merchant. The next person who stops by is going to think thatI'm a fly by night operation with my pathetic inventory. It's about diversification. I'd prefer to build a large, long term customer base that trusts me and my goods rather than have a single customer that buys everything I make. That's just smart business.
