Thread: is there a reason to keep master merchant?

I've been master merchant for going on a month now, and I'm curious: Why should I bother / keep it?

I only use two vendors, and could drop back down to 1 easily, got enough cash where the maintenance changes don't effect me, don't need global advertising (I advertise my stock on the boards, and am in a player city that gets plenty of traffic) especially seeing as there are six million vendors advertised under the "Weapons" tab anyways

the only reason I could see to keeping merchant is Hiring IV... except the vendors come out ugly 99% of the time, I would rather just place a droid or a terminal.

IMO, merchant really needs a major revamp to make it seem useful.

And none of this stuff we're getting in publish seven designed to cripple non-merchant players.

Don't nerf anything, add something useful to the game. Allow Image Designers to customize your vendors at Hiring 2 or 3. Give merchants some sorta lot bonus (make large houses only take up 4 lots for merchants or something, I'm not saying give us more lots, but make our lots "more effecient" for the big stuff that is really inefficient on storage). How about that? Extra storage in housing for merchants. a 10% bonus each rung of a ladder, with a total 50% at the top.
