Thread: Make it so that you need to retain the Merchant ability to utilize that ability

All of these vendor max arguments will go right out the window if the Devs make it so that if you wish to surrender a Merchant skill, you'll need to first give up the benefit. Want to surrender Advert III? First you have to take all your vendors off the planetary maps. Want to give up Business III? Then get rid of your vendor first.


Implement these and then give all existing people 2 weeks or the next publish - whichever comes first - to readjust and then remove all vendors that do not comply with the player's current abilities. You have 6 vendors with crap on them but only have the skills for 2? Then you better lose 4 vendors before the time is up or else you'll lose ALL of your vendors.


The first half should be somewhat simple to deal with as a check in the system already exists when surrendering skills and you should be able to add a simple string to check another area in the character file. The second will take a bit more programming - along the lines of a character wipe - and require a great deal of testing before it hits but it should be doable as well.


I know that SOE is looking for the quick fix, but they keep on destroying things that have existed and people have used for their benefit for a long time. This is a short term solution that has a negative impact upon their game/business in the long run. Put your paws away from the 'nerf' button and fix the system as it was designed to be back at launch.
