Thread: A possible Master Merchant perk.

Ok, I didn't search the board before posting this, so if it's already been tossed out there, please feel free to disregard this.
With all the discussion about adding value to the Merchant profession, I've been trying to come up with something that would make getting the Master box truly worthwhile.
The new item limit changes (12 vendors/4000 items) are a good bonus, but how about this:
Allow a Master to create an "Auction" vendor.
Here's how I think it should work.
- It is a separate type of vendor that only sells items by auction.
- Since it's like any other vendor, it would count against the limit of 12. (Should all 12 vendors be able to be auction vendors or just a set number of them?)
- The name should designate it as an "Auction Vendor" (perhaps "Auctioneer" instead of "Vendor")
- Auctions would be the same duration as those on the Bazaar.
- Merchant would set a minimum bid and an optional buyout price. (Should the auction automatically end once the buyout price is reached or should it continue to accept bids?
- Auctions that have received bids wouldNOT be able to be cancelled.
- When the auction ends, the transaction takes place just like on the Bazaar.
- Unsold items hit the stockroom like normal.
The auction type could be designated at the time the item was listed.
Proxy (by default) - Would be just like the Bazaar. Enter maximum bid and get the item for the least money possible.
Regular - Your bid is your offer, much the way the trade forums work.

not a bad idea. Would be like the trade boards, but in game, and no bumping

Yup.
And because it would be a better outlet for big ticket items, it would encourage that precious "player interaction" by encouraging the looters to seek out merchants to move their valuables.

I like most of the idea. I think it needs some fine tuning, but overally a most excellent proposal. This way not only the folks who are aware of the boards would know the value of things.
We have jokers spamming our auction channel to buy major items like paintings and powerplants below their trade board value and then sell them on the trade boards. I think this proposal would help.
