Thread: Creating a Vendor for Someone Else

I have recently had a guild mate ask me to set a vendor that he could sell his miscellaneous and loot items on. Since he does not have any artisan skills to place his own vendor and there is no way to give anyone else admin on the vendor, I would need to place it and list all of the items for him. This is obviously something that would be fairly time consuming for me to do in addition to my own personal vendors. So, I have a few questions about this:

Does anyone else do this for people?

If so, what is the best way to go about doing this and keep track of the sales?

Do you charge a fee to the person?

Any additional info or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have done it for people that I know and trust. I would not do it for a random person.

Here's how we did it.

He gave me a list of his prices and then would either offer his items to one of the vendors or leave them where I could pick them up.

I put them on sale for him at his prices.

Any time an item sold from "his" vendor, I would forward the sales email to him.

He would periodically add up what I owed him from the sales and offer a randomitem to the vendor at that price.

I bought the item and he got his money.

Using the "offer" system meant that we didn't have to meet up or spend the 5% bank tip.

Now, I didn't charge him anything because he helped me out in lots of other areas, and I trusted him not to cheat me.

If instead you kept track of how much money you owed the person, you'd be in a better position to insure honesty.

I offer this for some of my guildmates.

I have them offer the item(s) to my vendor and then I put them up for said price.

Each day when I login I /mail all my mail and then delete it. I then open up Merchant's Friend and I have some set rules setup that calculate the amount that people should get.

I then either tip them in person or tell them to offer an item to my vendor and I'll pick the item up for the amount owing.

You know, it's things like this that make me realize that I must have suffered some sort of head trauma,,,, can't believe I was manually tracking the sales myself... *twitches*

If you have a large enough bank roll just buy the stuff from him and sell it.
I.E.:
He wants to sell armour helmets for 5000 cr each.
He sells you 50 of them in a pack labelled "5000", for 250000 cr. That way you know what to sell each item for.
As noted before forward all sales to him so he can keep tabs on how much stuff is left in the vendor. So he can sell you another pack full of stuff to resell before the stock runs dry.
If the stuff doesn't sell cuz it's prices to high, he'll have to reimburse you the difference so you can lower the prices.
