Hey everyone, I've tried setting up a vendor about 600m outside Bestine, figuring that it would be a great shop location. I've got it up on the Global Map, and have tried to do some tasteful advertising on my Trade Forums and in the Major cities, but I'm not getting the response that I'm looking for. Obviously Theed or Coronet would be a better location, but those prime spots were taken a long time ago. Where is everyone finding luck placing their vendors?

You're going to laugh at this

My most successful shop was on Talus. People would come from Dantooine or Lok. It was insane. Now that I've moved to Dantooine, I have less business, but by choice (less advertising).

Word of mouth is a powerful thing. If a few people like your shop they'll bring friends.

i set up shop right across from a cloning station.

(master tailor btw) now if only the vendor lag can go away so i can stock clothing items

An indivdual shop may not be the best type of shop. Have you considered a mall? Grouping with other merchants for a centrally located shopping mecca is great. While they may not come specifically because your vendor is their, there's a good chance they'll browse and maybe buy more than they came for. Often these malls charge little or no rent. I know I currently pay no rent in the mall i particpate on in Bestine. But the mall owner likes having his personal little power vendor to buy when he needs it

So find people you can do business with and put all your merchant power together to better all of you.

You answered your own question: south theed and south coronet. One doesn't have to reside there, but these places are not only very convenient for the 'word of mouth' customers, but they also clearly have the highest foot traffic in the galaxy.

There's always room to be had in either of these locations, at least on the two servers on which I play regularly. It might take a week to find a spot you like, but there's always houses/harvesters poofing/being moved. Put you house in some dreamy place, but put your shop/tent where the money is!!!

I do much better now that I moved into a tent right next to a player city shuttleport. They enter the city and see you right away.

Or in some towns a row of tents do well. Just add on across from one or add on to the line.

This is the secret to a business that grows vs. one you have to advertise every day just to break even. Give people a reason to come back every day.

Remeber it depends on what you are selling. Be creative about your advertising. For my very successful resource business, I started advertising by creating a colorful email and waypoint to the shop that I could copy and paste from a notepad file on the desktop. I put resources and crafting tools on the bazaar and emailed the message and the waypoint out to everyone who bought the resources or crafting tools on the bazaar. The bazaar can be a very powerful advertising tool.

Being an Architect, my main business is Medium Harvesters. I do special orders of Heavies, when asked since I don't have 2 million units of Ore just laying around

I do use the Bazaar, by placing Personal Harvesters on it, and sending a Thank You Note to every Purchaser with a waypoint included. Plus I use my Galaxies' Trade Forum to advertise. Since I first started this thread, business has increased, wether it was the Global Map, referrals, or tasteful advertising I don't know. I have thought about contacting a Mall, but now I'm starting to worry that I won't have a stockedvendor. Be careful what you ask for eh?
