Thread: Vendor item limit tied to Management skill?

I apologize if this has already been answered. I admittedly haven't been keeping up with the issue.

Has it been confirmed whether the vendor item cap is going to be tied to the management skill? My partner is an 0004 Merchant and we're hoping to prepare to make a smooth transition with the changes.

Thanks for your time.

I would hope it is in the Effiency Line myself with a boost at Master but that is just me. Putting it in the Management line isn't much of a challenge since you already take that one for more vendors..Seems logical to me that if you get more effiencent you could sell more items with fewer employees.. Just my opinion. I don't know where they will put it.

That does make sense, and would probably reward merchants more for dedicating themselves to the class.

Thanks for the quick reply DocSavag. I'll try to check back more often to keep up with the news.

It makes perfect sense which means they'll stick it in advertising just to throw us off the track.

Ha! Or they'll introduce a completely new profession entitled Inventory Manager, whose sole class ability for every skill box is to give you 25-50 extra item space in your vendors.

If they put it in the Management line, then it wouldencourage the "erstwhile" merchants to keep that branch high, rather than dropping it after putting their vendors down.

I would like to see, in general, more day-to-day benefits to Hiring and Management lines. I feel that as Master MerchantI have lots of skill boxes that I can't really "play" with.

So, let me get this straight: To advance my character, I have to give up my current abilities?

What is problematic is whatever line they put it in, the devs must make sure that the updates are automatic. Otherwise it's a droppable skill, same as any other.

Example: Joe gets master merchant. Joe places 1 vendor with a master merchant item limit (say 800 items). Joe drops down to novice merchant, and is entitled as a novice to keep his 1 vendor. However, it is likely (based on current coding) that the 1 vendor will continue to function with a 800 item limit and not drop down automatically to a 150 item limit.

My fear is that the item limits will also become a "throwaway" skill, regardless of the branch.

Hmm. Anyone knows what's the deal with the item limit now?

Does it come in this patch?
If yes, what will be the limits, and what skills will they be tied to?

Sorry if that has already been answered somewhere else, but I could not find it...

There is no item limit in the patch that is currently being tested on Test Center. The last we heard was that they were going to go back and review the plan again with the advise of the players that was given in their development thread and come back to us and let us know what their alternative plan is. That plan will probably be in the publish after this one.
