Thread: Restocking Bug for Dummies namely Myself!!!
I have read the forum after losing several hundreds of items from my vendor (mostly uber harvestor deeds as well as crates of spices), I think I understand the workaround.....
If you post the item from your inventory, you get a 30 day auction timer. This is BAD since the 14 day deletion timer will cause the item to disappear from your vendor or stockroom.
If you post the item from your stockroom, you get a 7 day auction timer. This is GOOD since it is under the 14 day deletion timer as well as provide you with emails to restock. Items I purchased from offers seem to get a 7 day timer which is GOOD as well since it will be under the 14 day bug.
I just have to make sure not the leave any items over 14 days (BAD) whether they are actually being sold by vendor (30 day sale period) or sitting in the stockroom.
I'm anewbie Merchant so correct me if I am wrong on the best solution to keep items from poofing.....I don't want to continue to lose millions of $$$ in inventory to a code bug. I would rather have more fun giving the stuff away then have it go to the SWG Black Hole.
Join the club. I had stocked so many items on my vendor that I hadn't gone through it to restock until today and noticed that my female clothing vendor was barren. So I KNEW that I hadn't gotten sales receipts from them and came here, and lo and behold I find out they've been deleted thanks to an incredibly stupid oversight. So now I'm out hundreds of thousand credits worth of goods and no way to get it back. I had to empty over 1000 items just now to restock from the stockroom to prevent this crap from happening again. They had better fix this crap soon.
*is an incredibly pissed off tailor who loves providing for her customers and lost 1/3 of her stock*
This looks right to me with all the evidence that we have so far.

If you restock from your inventory it is bad since you will lose the items 2 weeks later. If you restock from the stockroom it is bad since you'll berestocking them a week later. If you retrieve more than one item at a time it is bad since you may lose some of them "in transit". Oh, and no matter what you do, if you are out of town for more than a few days you risk losing items to "stockroom deleting".
Conclusion: as a merchant you're better off is you simply don't stock anything. Wait a minute... why am I a merchant again?
" If you restock from the stockroom it is bad since you'll berestocking them a week later."
I don't consider that "bad" considering the alternative....it's how it was before the patch and we've grown accustom to it

I of course realize that's how it was before the patch, that doesn't mean it's acceptable. It was the #1 issue for merchants, and actually the #1 issue for many other crafters like tailors.
As far as choosing the lesser of many many evils, if I ever choose to restock my vendor again (which I haven't at this point, call it a boycott or whatever) I'll still choose the 14 day option. At least then you are only restocking every other week rather than every week, but it just means that you get no warning when an item is about to go into never never land so you would have to be on the lookout for that.
