Thread: Master Merchant ability
My fellow Master Merchants!
A great injustice is happening to us!
We do not have any benefits of being Master Merchants but a -20% on vendor costs, and 1 more vendor many do not use/need.
What I propose is this:
We are given3 excellent abilities: 1. Vendor counters with a small register for our shops, 2. Background music, and 3. Large Backpacks!
When visiting a Merchant Trainer, you see these two abilities present. However.. what in the world does a Merchant Trainer do with a beautiful counter and shop music? NOTHING!
As a Master Merchant we are basically Pack-Rats! So, why should we have to have a tiny back pack that holds only 50 items? Why not grant us the ability to hold more items! Out characters can only hold 50 items without a backpack. I say increase that to 100 when you make Master Merchant, and give us a much earned Master Merchant Backpack! We equip it and can hold an extra 100 items on us. I personally have many many resources I try to micro-manage by storing them in tiny backpacks at home. I know many others who experience the same!
I would like to see these things implemented to Master Merchants as special abilities EARNED by us. We worked hard on making it to the top. We took the time and effort to train and utilize the given skills to buy and sell. We should have the ability to have more! Architects, Weaponsmiths, Droid Engineers, and Armorsmiths all get cool toys that benefit their profession. All we get is an extra vendor and a 20% discount on maintaining them...
Welcome to SWG. Check out master smuggler...it sucks too. Wouldn't you know it, I found myself pouring my experience points down BOTH of these professions.
1. I saw some vendor furniture on the test center in one of the cities on Tatooine. There was a bar, which could use some work but had a carbine under the counter in back that I thought was a nice touch. Also a fruit and vegetable stand that was quite nice. I'm not sure if these items are on the live serveror only on test, or if they are planned to be made and used by players.
2. Shop music would be a nice touch, but doubt it would help sales much. The tough part is getting the customer to the shop.
3. I actually dislike the look of a backpack on my merchant and would prefer to wear an Armani suit with thegoods on a droid following him around. ![]()

i feel your pain
I agree that Master Merchants need MORE lots.
I really need more lots,or at least make merchant tents use 1/4 to /1/2 a lot instead of one, or none.
My buisness will stagnate because I cannot expand.
great ideas all, but the store music takes the cake. muzak playing 'girl from ipanima' would be hilarious. i'd hang out in my own store more often if it played store music.
tee hee
What about the option as a Master Merchant to change the outside style of your house? Make it have windows or something. I think that would be a nice touch since it would be noticable for a player running by. How often have you ran up to a door thinking it was a shop because of the sign, to only find you stand glarring at a red entrance way?
