I have a wonderful stim shop on tatooine that I had to move in preperation for the shuttle port my player city was going to get. I unloaded my vender (the bulky kind) and destroyed it. When I placed my vender in our new vender mall I then added 10k maintence and initialized it(I got the message confirming it and I lost the movement controls) I then double clicked it to add my wares and I get a "this vender is not initialized" prompt.

I reloged but that did not help. I made a new one and it did not help. I changed the name and that did not do it either. I went to my other personal house and tried to make the vender and it did actually work there. I thought that the DEVs put a restriction on poeple placing venders in houses they did now own, so I redeeded my house and moved it to the biz district. When I put all my stuff back in and made the vender BAM it was not initializing.

I tried everything but it would not initialize. I could not have a vender in my own home.

I panicked and ran back to my old shop front to restore my original vender and BAM it wouldnt initialize!

I began to fume as I watched my business crumble out from under me.

I then went back to my small personal house and banged my head on the wall praying to the gods....I then made another vender and named it "test", i placed it and put in money and turned it on.

SUCCESS! After 20 non working venders it finaly worked. I tried to put it in the vender mall...BAM it did not work.

WHY is there is inconsistancy? This is repeatable with bulky vender types.

There is a post at the top of this forum titled: Terminal Vendor Workaround. It details the steps some people have taken to get the terminal and droids to initialize.

There are a couple of different methods in there one of them might work for you. There is a common thread in them and in the story you told about the one that worked but honestly it is hard to explain. Basically there is a small window between the time you place and initialize the vendor to the time it is broken..in that time it seems like if you interact with the admin menu or functions you get your vendor past this point..if you miss it.. or try to operate the vendor before that it is broken forever. I fear this explaination make no sense and it is a fairly wild guess on my part but looking at all the things that have been duplicated it makes sense to me.

Thank you for the input. I was tring to figure out what conditions made the vender get a whacky. I thought it was something to do with being the owner of the structure I placed it in. I thought it was the name formatter or just dumb brokenness. I have been reading about it and I am more confused about why this would grind the vender to a halt. Do the DEVs know about this issues roots? I will do some experimenting on timing to see if I can confirm the other stories.

They know it exists but I don't know if they have discovered why it occurs yet. Honestly it has to be a tough one to track down because we can't even figure out a real pattern to how to get around it that works for everyone.
