Thread: Vendor 'fix'...Am I doomed because I replaced my pre patch vendors?
After losing approx. 3 million credits worth of resources and crated powerups in my pre-nerf vendors, I destroyed them and replaced them with new ones.
Why? Because my Bestine shop had 3 vendors; a 'powerups' vendor, a 'bulk resources' vendor (5k to 100k lots) and a 'supplies and sundries' vendor (1k to 5k resources, etc.)
After losing many, many tens of thousands of units worth of various resources, I no longer had any resources, much less bulk resources. I was pretty much out of the resource business and thought that having post patch vendors might help the problem.
Assuningthe Devs really DO attempt to help the players affected by this bug and at least try to restore our lost inventory (ROTFLMAO...I wrote 'Devs' and 'help' in the same sentence...![]()

...what happens to those of us who no longer have those same vendors?
Should I create identically named vendors in the same shop?
Do they have to be the exact same vendorsthat actually lost the items?
...or will the items be restored to any vendor in the same shop?
I know in my heart that the correct answer is nothing at all will happen...but just in case...I mean...a guy can dream...can't he?
Or am I simply doomed because I took down vendors for which I had no more items to stock? ![]()
The short answer is I don't know. But they are supposed to post details about this tomorrow and maybe we can find out then. Certainly returning them to a vendor that no longer exists will be a challenge as you can imagine. I don't know what options might be available.
Jezan, I'm in the same boat... do me a favor, pose this question in the dev thread.

Hmmmm. A nice solution would be along the lines of 'restore table (database table)' if table does not exist then create table. but since a vendor is an object inside another object ( house ) if the next upper object does not exist they will have to recursivly(sp) create them or create a special table (we programmers hate 'special' anything) say a vendor that sits in your inventory and when you drop and initialize it the items that were lost are 'in' that table.
I still have the house where the vendor was but I laid her off after the 'theft' I will go and try to rehire her before the hot fixes just in case and read more tomorrow.
Thank you again Doc for your hard work in getting this resolved. (Best resolution for a BIG bug I have yet seen in these kinds of games.

The same thing happened to me, but that shop is now moved so a new identically named vendor in the same location isn't possible anymore. I'm bettingwe'll have to put in a ticket and wait unless they add a few lines to shunt the items to main inventory of the character if restore failed by invalid merchant.Since I'm batting 500 at getting a CSR willing to help restore an item I'll cross my fingers. One musthave checked a record and was willing to give me what I'd estimated the value of the items to be (it was only 12K or so early in the game). On the next I got the canned response. <crosses fingers>
I also posted on the Dev thread, right before seeing yours.
They *should* be able to just re-parent the items if they really have this container structure in their database. Not too much "special" about it... That's *if*. I have no clue how they have things set up.
