Thread: Idea: vendor removal system.

I believe we are all familiar with the problem empty of vendors taking up space in a mall, and being unable to contact the owner. If not from personal experience, the new have at least read about the problem here on the forums.

Now I had this idea of how the vendors could be removed in a NON-griefing faction.
Simply put the owner of the structure could "deactivate" the vendor, so no more sales could be put and no more offers could be given. Then for 37 days the owner of the vendor could no be baned and would be treated as if on the access list. 30 days for the stock to drop to the stock room, and 7 for the stockroom to be emptied.
If the owner did not drop by in that period the vendor would have lost all it's stock anyway, so no griefing in this.
Then after 37 days, the remaining maintains in the vendor get transferred to the owner and the vendor deleted.

I like the idea a little but surely stoping vendors from selling things could be a bad thing?

I like the idea of being able to stick a timer on the vendor and delete it if its not looked after before the timer runs out. I would also like to see and auto disable feature for all those empty vendors out there. I spend hours driving between empty vendor when ever I need to find something.

It would not stop a vendor from selling things, it would stop the vendor owner from putting more stuff up for sale. On the vendor interface that action is call "sell item" instead of "list item for sale" and is should be.

I would stop it from selling things. If we have an agreement that you pay me 5000 credits a week for use of my highly traveled merchant center to place your vendor and you dont' pay..you stop getting revenue.

I meant it more as a tool to remove vendors that are empty, run by merchants that do not stock much, or who sell substandard supplies at inflated prices.
If you just blocked a vendor from selling then it could be properly be used to for griefing, and that means the chances of ever getting it implemented are slim.

If you had a deal wit adperson that they had to pay 5000 cr a weak to have a vendor in you place, they would just have to pay one month up front, say 5000 cr a weak and 20.000 at the creation, toughs 20.000 would then cover the fee for the last 30 day: That way if the person do not pay you would "disable" the vendor, until they had paid the missed rents.

Stopping it from selling isn't griefing as long as the vendor notifies the owner than it can no longer operate from that location. The owner can then go and retrieve his merchandise and remove his vendor. I think this should be coupled with the prevention of a vendor owner from being banned from a structure. This way the merchant always has the option of coming back and getting his stuff and moving along to a new location. Right now you can grief them by permanently locking them out of a vendor and they can't even remove the vendor to free up the vendor slot.

oh oh... this is not good. I have a house and vendor is no longer playing... does this mean there is no way to get him out? I put a ticket and they have not responded.

Worst part is hes on the planetary map and he is empty.

The only current way to get rid of the vendor yourself is to redeed your house. A CSR can remove it but they don't do it very often.

Both the map issue and the unwanted vendor issue are in our list of the top things we would like addressed.
